Unbelievable.
If anyone still thinks Oklahoma is jumping us they are fucking nuts
University of TexasOklahoma will jump us. If we hadn't shit the bed vs BC we probably would have stayed ahead but we probably won't now.
Sparty or Iowa will finish ahead of us. Bama and Clemson will too. Our best bet is Oklahoma St. beating Oklahoma next week. Unless we paste Stanford (very unlikely), I don't see us finishing ahead of Oklahoma, should they win out.
Tonight's game will have a detrimental effect on our playoff chances.
I'm going to qualify this a bunch but I'm going on record that a one loss Oklahoma is going to the playoffs over us assuming:
1) Baylor, TCU, and Oklahoma St. do not lose any games to teams outside of each other and
2) Pitt does not win the ACC and
3) Stanford does not win the Pac-12
I know that's a lot of qualifiers but in that scenario I think Oklahoma deserves to get in ahead of us easily. They would have 3 better wins than us IMO.

The path is pretty simple at this point. Beat Stanford, hope OU loses to OKST. There is no other path. The B1G is getting a team in, let that dream go. SEC winner will get in, as will the ACC winner. Better hope it's Clemson, because if they lose to UNC, we could beat Stanford by 100 and still be left out.
So just hope for the best at this point. Beat Stanford, hope OU loses. I'm disappointed but am not angry. We brought this situation on ourselves.

Are you really a Notre Dame student? Learn a thing or two about your school and its traditions before you fling crap like that. That's the kind of thing that ND football fans throw around, but students and alumni should know better.
We'd be having the exact same argument. Debating about who gets in among the 4th, 5th, and 6th teams in the country is no better or worse than debating about who gets in among the 8th, 9th, and 10th teams in the country.
The real reason we dropped is the Trojans sucking big time against Oregon. If they won that game, we'd be sitting with 3 top 25 wins and almost surely still in at least the #4 spot... likely #3.
We effectively lost a quality win by them losing that game. And Stanford also got devalued by Oregon, so fuck Oregon.
Oregon is a sack of shit.
They need to implode, soon.
#soon.

The problem is that most people refused to believe USC was a mediocre team because the metrics said they weren't. Losses (2 of them before they even played us) don't lie while metrics might.
To be honest, if USC had 1 loss and was in the top ten, but Navy was 2-9 and Temple 3-8, we would be in a better position right now. One big win obviously carries more weight than a few rinky dink ones.

Probably true. That's why I've been saying we need 1-2 great wins and then it doesn't matter much.
