Would never happen, and I don't want Saban. He's obviously a good coach, but I don't think he's a good fit, and it doesn't matter because I don't think he would come for any price.

Saban would never go to ND. He is a control freak and if he doesn't have total control of the football program he isn't taking the job. Pretty simple.

Now, I know that Bama is a good team and likely is one of the top 4 teams in the country, but will the Ole Miss loss ever end up hurting them? I mean Ole Miss has proven themselves to be mediocre at best. Blown out by Florida (who is also very meh), owned by Memphis (LOL blown out by Navy), and just lost to Arkansas. I know that game was pretty flukey, but a loss is a loss.

Highly doubt it does. The committee seems to be heavily influenced by the former coaches that are on it. And, at the end of the day, I believe they think they know who would and who would not belong in the four team playoff. As far as Ole Miss.. it is more about them not playing up to their capabilities than anything else. They have plenty of talent to compete and win most Saturdays. I think the good folks over in the Magnolia state are finding out that their beloved coach isn't quite the coach they thought he was. A good coach... not an elite coach.

Exactly. I don't think the ND administration would ever give total control to a football coach. Even Lou didn't have total control during his tenure, although he was probably pretty close. The administration was definitely getting mixed feelings about his pull on campus near the end which is why they didn't fight his departure. Your point emphasizes why I think Saban would never come for any amount of money. Great coach, but it wouldn't fit his system and I don't think it would be a good fit for either side. Plus, there's no point in leaving Alabama at this point unless he simply gets bored and is looking for a challenge. Not likely at his age, retirement will happen first I wager.

To be fair, he didn't have total control when he first came to T Town. But winning changed that. He did piss some of the old guard off but they couldn't argue with his success. Why would he want to have to start over with doing that again. A large reason why Texas didn't get him IMO.

Imagine if somebody told you in 2005:

"Ten years from now, ND would decisively beat Texas and USC in the same season."

You'd be mind blown right????????????

NOW, imagine if the same person said:

"Ten years from now, ND will decisively beat Texas and USC, and those wins won't carry nearly as much weight as beating Navy and Temple that same season....."

Seems to me Ok St is getting tons of credit for beating a team that hasn't played a tough schedule and doesn't have any really solid wins... Yes, TCU was unbeaten... but they were #8 (if I'm remembering the initial poll correctly). How do you beat the #8 team and as a result jump from #14 to #4 in the polls? TCU will likely end up with 3 losses...

It seems to me that TCU is getting credit from last season. I know they had won 16 straight... but last year is last year. Maybe Ok St is the real deal, but I don't see how this most recent win proves it.

I personally think the committee will value the win greatly, even though I don't agree. For instance TCU was ranked #8, which was two spots lower then Baylor. Going to the TT example: TCU barely beat TT and Baylor killed them and only were seperated by two spots.

I was completely wrong last week where I thought ND would be ranked (10 or 11) so I'm hoping I'm off here and there only 5 or 6

Not to nitpick, but Iowa came into 2005 off of three consecutive years of being ranked #8 in the final poll. They won 31 games in those three seasons.

What if someone told you in 1992, that in 10 years, Iowa would.......

I'd have Iowa ahead of Okie St personally.

Everyone knew TCU was over-inflated. TTU almost handed them their ass. Took a miracle to do that.

Iowa's schedule sucks azz. Wisco, Northwestern and Pitt .... 3 "marginal teams" they beat and the rest of their games are "cake walks"! That is 9 gimme games for them thru this year! No O$U, no MSU and no Michigan (I hate those pricks) opn their schedule. Soooo, if SOS means something, then Iowa is NOT a top 6 team at this juncture!

I will say their hands are tied slightly. They don't make the B1G schedule, and basically can only choose 2 OOC a year with Iowa State being a permanent fixture.

I don't even care if Iowa gets put in front of us at some point. They should get handled in the BIG championship.

But whoever beats them will get propped up after for beating a "top tier" team. Hopefully they dump a game before then.

That's right. And if they win the B1G championship game, they deserve to be in the final four.

Also, Iowa's current SOS is better than OK, Baylor, Ohio State, and Ok State. I know that the Big 12 teams will play each
other moving forward, which will help. But Iowa would play a top team if they win out and get to the championship game.

i've been saying all along:

need Clemson to go undefeated.
need Ohio St to go undefeated.
wanted LSU to go undefeated, now want bama to run the sec table.

that's the first 3 spots.

for that last spot:
we need to win out, the big 12 teams all need at least one loss, and Stanford needs to win the pac 12 championship game.

been saying this for weeks now, and the results of this weekend helped us more than hurt us in the cfp picture.

exciting stuff, and we need to stay healthy and take it one game at a time.

So true, but I think the way the team is playing they will take it one game at a time as opposed to some IE posters who assume the next two games are gimme's.

I like that the next one is Senior Day and then Shamrock...shouldn't have trouble getting up (and staying up) for those two games.

So Clemson, tOSU, and Bama top three. I got to put the Irish at four for the simple fact that I can't see the Pokies jumping them just jet. This is a team that won two games that were highly questionable officiating wise and the only signature win is against a TCU team that I think is a tad bit overrated. Moving in that fourth slot over the Irish is a stretch to me.
