This is a huge pick up.

Great move by the staff and Kareem for the future of our football team.

He will make a great impact for us.

I'm so jacked about his commitment.

DE: Trumbetti, Hayes
1T: Jones, Cage
3T: Tillery, Hayes/MDT
DE: Rochell, Bonner/Blankenship

I don't see how Kareem isn't at least in the 2 deep next year. He is a EE, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up starting over someone like Trumbetti I think he will be the best pass rusher on the team next year.

Whoa whoa, he doesn't even play the same position as Trumbetti. I think he's probably first man off the bench, and they'll kick Rochell inside.

Romeo Okwara(DE) has as many sacks(3.0) as the entire Interior of the line (Day:2.0, Tillery:1.0).

But I would certainly like to see an elite pass rusher out on the edge of the ND line.

Couple of things:

"Going forward," meaning next year and beyond, Okwara isn't on the team, and there are no proven pass rushing defensive ends on the roster.

And as another poster mentioned, the disruption has come from the interior, so numbers without context offer little value. The sacks from our defensive ends I believe are coming from either coverage sacks or from the interior collapsing the pocket and forcing the qb to move outside.

I think it's also fair to say that our best defensive end, Rochell, is really a defensive tackle.

Isaac Rochell has been VERY disruptive, so it's not all coming from the interior.

Watching the kid's Hudl highlights: He's obviously a one man wrecking crew at the HS level, and certainly a guy that you hope you can land. But I hope his angles get better, because he's probably not going to be able to make as many of those "grab the ballcarrier with one hand and drag them down" tackles in major DI-A football.

If this commitment holds, Irish recruiting takes big leap forward. Congrats on your decision, hope a couple other join you to make the incoming D haul one of the best.

Phammer needs to use the big stick to get this man on the front page.

Is he MIA?

Shoot. He used to put out some excellent and well put together posts.

I guess life beckons after an ND degree.

I think it's missing Donte Vaughn too, probably doesn't help that College Football exploded with the USCs news right aftr his decision.

Some said Bama had cooled on Kareem. Might be a mutual parting of ways...

They caught wind that he wanted to go to class and study and graduate, instead of just playing football.

I kid Tommy.

Rocket94 was correct in his post. Kareem visited Bama a little while back and during the visit conveyed to Saban that the distance from home was an issue. Better to make the decision now and not a year or two down the road. That says a lot about the kids character. Being honest and what he feels is best for him. And, it gives Bama time to recruit a position of need. I think it worked out well for both in this instance... and that is sometimes rare in the world of recruiting.

Phammer's been busy lately, but he checks in when he can. We relay the front page updates to him as they come up, so I'd imagine he'll get to it soon.

I agree with this but then don't say you are mad a player who commits to ND but then wants to stay closer to home.
