““For some perspective, 10 of our top 150 draft-eligible prospects will be playing in this game on Saturday, and all 10 of them will be wearing gold helmets.””

Todd McShay

Why does everyone talk about Clemson like they are the epitome of a southern ACC-SEC mega power? What has anyone proved this year?

Just like GeoTech, they have a lot of replacement in their starting lineup, including 8, repeat eight on defense!

Eight new defensive players on their defense, against our offensive line. I checked; no unit on either team has had as consistent of a performance across all games as the ND offensive line. That is in four against three (games) with only one of the three Clemson has played having the level of talent that ND has faced in all four games.

And earlier, someone was making a big point about how tough Clemson has been at home only losing a few games in the last three years . . . How many other tough teams came into their house and lost? Maybe one, Georgia in '13?

This weekend should be fun to be Irish!

Please don't quote my post when it has nothing to do with what you're talking about.

FYI, that 'top 10' doesn't include true sophomores/RS freshman. Not saying that drastically changes anything, but Clemson has some young players that are real dawgs who are not counted in that 'who are the 10 most talented'.

Clemson does have talent on that roster. Maybe not starting experience but they have guys that are talented that have been in the program. In fact, Coach D made a post about this exact topic. We sit here and act like a they have all this inexperience. The reality is, its quite a veteran team just not with a lot of starts because the guys in front of them last year were so darn good. Very similar to Jarron Jones going down and Cage/Tillery doing so well. Its misleading to think just because those guys didn't start last year that they'll be unprepared or not very good.

Clemson also has Richard Yeargin, who as we all remember == #1 overall draft pick Mario Williams.

They should have put a few in during the GT game than.. They weren't going to win that... Maybe, just maybe they weren't coached up enough?

All jokes aside, I do think ND can line up and run the ball and have success. Starting out, Clemson will be selling out to make the defensive plays. I would be happy seeing the Irish not try and get cute but run high percentage plays that can negate some of the Tiger aggressiveness. An over the top to Fuller in the first series would help keep them somewhat honest even if it doesn't succeed.

As the game settles in, I like the Irish O Line and think some good old fashion four yards and a pile of dust will work. Then over the top to Fuller or some nice slants, crossing routes, and fades should open up, especially against man to man coverage. Jones could be pivotal here.
I actually kind of agree with you. I know BK so I know he's going to be aggressive and try to keep Clemson honest and I'm fine with that. But this is a game where I feel like we can play "manball" SEC style and run it down their throats. I feel strongly that our O-line can dominate in the trenches.

I think it does because you quoted Kearse saying that this is best team we'll face all year. Todd McShay's quote really underscores that is BY FAR the best team they've played so far and might be the best one they play all season. Clemson, their coach, their fans, and their players all talk and act like they're '04 USC combined with '12 Alabama. I don't think they realize how deep, how talented, and how good we are.

Every year...I've been about 2 hours north of Clemson for 5 years now and Clemson fans are the biggest bandwagon fans and every year they are saying how good they are and all that bullshit and then they shit the bed. It's obnoxious.

Sorry if this has been answered, does anybody have a good idea of how early you should show up for gameday? Wife and I are probably going. She's probably going to rock a "Holtz for president" sign and I'm thinking of a "DeShaun Watson checks under his bed for Jaylon Smith before he goes to sleep every night" sign

Clemson fans have it made. They wear orange on Saturday for the game, orange on Sunday to go hunting, and orange on Monday while cleaning the side of the highway.

I honestly think that Clemson fans are the most sensitive bunch I've ever encountered. They're all talking about how much trash our players have talked, when in reality all that has been said is Deshone wants to get the crowd out of it by scoring early, and KeiVarae doesn't think that Watson is a top 5 QB. These two relatively innocuous comments have their fans are all in a tizzy. It's hilarious, really.

Oh, and ClemsonTom has over 100,000 tweets. Dude seriously needs to get a life.

Clemson fans seem desperate to find something to rally around as "bulletin board material." It's weird...I've never seen a program (from top down, the coaches, to the players, to the fans) so thin skinned and so desperate to feel sleighted and offended. I have a feeling Clemson is going to come out overly pumped and borderline out of control just judging by their program and fanbase. I think we're the more mature team and we might be more composed and poised than they are.
