12 TDs 6 picks so far through four games. He chuck it's just about every play it seems. Brownsburg isn't very good...absolutely no defense.

Edit: that is through three games. The fourth wasn't listed yet but I know he through a bunch of picks last night.

I don't think now he will ever reconsider his commitment to the Vols now that he got a whiff of what Wimbush is all about.

Knowing that Wimbush played might make Hunter more likely to consider ND than not. Wimbush just hurt his red shirt, and yes, he can get it a year later, but who knows how that shakes out. With Wimbush playing yesterday the qb depth chart should look even better for a 2p17 qb.

I dunno, Tenn looking pretty bad right now lol

Actually (if everything stays the same), ND is turning out to be a better situation as far as QB's. UT has 3 highly rated freshman QB's on the roster now (though they moved Jennings to WR for now) and Guarantano coming in next year. If Guarantano gets redshirted, HJ shows up with the same eligibility as a high 4 star, #1 DT-QB and right behind all the rest.

At ND he comes in with Wimbush having only two years of eligibility remaining.

Pick your poison.

No guarantees of that, though. Completely possible Wimbush redshirts next year and Johnson is no closer to being "the man" than he would have been otherwise. If I'm him, I probably stay put and remember why I chose Tennessee in the 1st place. Not saying I don't want him.

The amount of anger I get after continuously opening this thread and realizing that its not about HJ switching to ND could almost make me say a bad word.

To be fair to the Voluntteers, they have had some key injuries, just like ND. Realistic expectation are now very different that they were in the Spring.

On the other hand, now that Wimbush has officially burnt a year, and we signed a 2016 kid, we have to be more attractive to 2017 QB recruits. Barring an injury, a Red shirted 2017 QB will have 3 years without BW on the roster, to compete with Ian Book and whoever signs in 2018.

I'm very anti-player bumps, but this one has been used for so much non-Hunter news, that I now think it's funny and hope it becomes the Tennessee thread.

If Tennessee loses to Arkansas this week, Butch Jones is going to be on fire, because he's going to get hammered by Georgia and Bama IMO, which would make for a 4 game skid and he'll have zero fan support at that point.

Maybe Hunter Johnson sneaks on campus for the USC game? One can hope.

It would seem very unlikely that Butch Jones is fired this year. However, Butch Jones will enter next season very much on the "hot seat" and that may be enough to make Hunter Johnson reconsider his commitment at some point. If Hunter Johnson keeps going to Tennessee games and they keep losing in typical Butch Johnson fashion, things could get really ugly in Neyland Stadium.

is anyone else over Hunter? He's a good player, but I've watched some film of other '17 Qbs. I like a handful of guys much more.

It's so early in the process I'm not concerned. As things turned out, we got Wimbush because Barnett decommitted. How is Johnson doing? Seemed to recall he was throwing a lot of picks early in the year.

I like the kid from Louisiana, but that doesn't matter because this has nothing to do with Tennessee.

It's really tough to stay that hyped about him when he isn't the best QB curently in his own hometown.
What's sad about all of this, UT or ND aren't the ideal places for him. As long as he's competing with a Zaire, Kizer, Wimbush, Dobbs, Jones and Guarantano type, he's gonna have his work cut out for him.

It is done.

Discussion about Tennessee's struggles in direct relation to Hunter's recruitment is perfectly fine, as long as that focus remains front and center at all times.

For other issues, such as independent debate on Butch Jones/Tennessee in general, or for illicit vBuck gambling based on the $EC, please visit the appropriate thread at http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/other-college-football/204695-sec-open-thread.html

per loy--there is still communication w/ his family and ND

I won't get my hopes up unless there's a coaching change. Sometimes when you get close to a staff, you just take the courtesy calls. Jaylon Smith was talking to OSU up until the last week and he was never going there.
