Seems like an odd historical figure to use as a caricature.

I get it.... Kizer - Kizer....

Just strikes me as weird to use an anti-semite dictator that led the world into WWI as a symbol of our QB.

I know.... #buzzkill

It's weird for anybody to use the word Czar when it comes to somebody in position of power for the same reason, but we do it all the time. Fun fact, both Czar and Kaiser share their etymology with Caesar.

It's fun, stop being a buzzkill. Have a drink!

Dictator is laying it on thick, unless you want to call on monarchies dictatorships. To add to your point though, I'd bring up the Rape of Belgium before being an anti-semite. Wilhelm is responsible for a whole host of egregious things, most of which point directly to his incompetence--and I don't want incompetence being associated with a Notre Dame QB any day of the week.

I have a general rule that if everyone who was around at the time is dead, then it's released for guilt-free fair use. The last veterans of World War I died years ago. We couldn't trace the etymology of Kaiser to Caesar and care about the genocides that were the norm then, would we? You have to cut it off somewhere.

But yeah I thought about it. The phrase #KizerWinhelm could easily rub someone the wrong way, but at the same time Kizer came off the bench to win a game against a school founded by a guy who thought owning other people as property was an okay thing to do soooo... we could look back at historical figures and find many truly awful facts with just about all of them.

So I mean if Schmidt is going to tweet that picture out too, I'm running with it and not looking back.

You could make argument that almost every political leader before the last 50-75 years was racist or prejudiced in one way or another though right? Kind of a slippery slope.

You could use a picture of Kevin Spacey as Kizer Sosa but then his symbol would be a criminal and murderer so I guess "The Kaiser" is better.

Look for Deshone to throw over 30 times and have a great day passing by the way.

Kelly----" don't look for us to just hand it off and play some kind of vanilla offense we are going to be aggressive"

That translates into Kizer slinging it and we will all see what we have!

Kevin Spacey as Kizer Sosa is actually DeShone's uncle!

The other two or three things missed about what we have in Kizer, besides the fact he is from Toledo :
  • The guy is really intelligent, makes good decisions, and sees things "fast," really fast.
  • Someone talked about him celebrating his TD, they were all kidding him about the fake field goal. When he got into the locker room after the game he immediately went to Malik and prayed. That is the kind of guy he is.
  • His vision is incredible.

Is it just me or does that post make no sense? Malik said it is time for him to ball on a broken ankle?

I am the exact same way with Corey Robinson. They are both incredibly talented, well rounded, mature, likable young men. I really think a lot of both. We all know the stories about people who meet with celebrity or good fortune and become rotten. Not these two; it isn't in their character!

The thing about DeShone is he is from the same town; there are connections; and I had a chance to see him grow up into the field general, defense killer he is going to be.

I am telling you, watching him take to a knee and clasp hands on the sidelines with teammates at high school games, this kid took the team on his back more than once, emotionally/mentally/spiritually as well as physically!

Yeah, 'Tuna probably could have worded it a bit better, but I figured the meaning was pretty special. Good to see Zaire is behind Kizer, you didn't see that from Golson when he was sitting on the bench by himself against USC.

(Or much of any other time recently since . . . )

Teammates!

(Because 127 is a team?)

Anyone else listen to the media interview with DeShone? Panda posted it in the GeoTech thread :

http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/1593416-post329.html

Anyone that has a question about why I am so hyped on this guy, just listen. After all of the stories from the spoiled psycho recruits, and broken character pro's, it is just so damned nice to see a great kid like this making good, and getting the attention.

(I almost feel like the world is a better place.)

When some kid about the NWO Mafia, it is amazing at the connections sleepy little backwater Toledo has. I've an attorney that has a theory about all roads leading to and from Toledo. It is amazing the coaches that have passed through this town, and maintain connections.

And, Greg Dempsey is one. The man is a seriously connected guy, that really takes care of his players. Never met a guy that played for him that had anything less than favorable to say about him.

The big thing Central has (besides one of the top programs in the state over the last decade or so) is that these kids get guidance to develop during and beyond high school. I can't think of one of their athletes that has found themselves in a bad post-secondary situation.

Well let's be fair, there's a difference between supporting the new QB because you got hurt and supporting the new QB because he replaced you. Not condoning Golson but I'd be pretty butthurt too.

I figured as much, when she showed up as one of barstool's daily SS, I did a little twitter search and noticed she hadn't posted about him in a while.

Yeah - Let's go back to the first game of last season and watch EG's response when Malik had his long run against Rice.

I love the leadership this kid is showing by taking the fault for the dropped passes. Saying that, in the rain, it was his job to put the ball on the receivers' chests and taking full responsibility for the inaccuracy really says a lot about the young man's character.

Not only that, but his receivers are going to see him trying to take the heat and will reciprocate that on the field any way they can. Team mindset. I like it.
