Since ACL is used for cutting, change of direction, I'm guessing it blew on that cut as you can see him make the move and not put his right foot back down as he was getting tackled. He hiked it up and kept it up as he went down.

Damn shame. Hope he recovers 100% and gives us a year to remember in '16

Pay sites starting to have updates on the twitters. Sampson and Loy.

Can't imagine they'll say much that we won't hear later today.

Yup. Reported acl to be made official later. When the knee stutters like his did it is never good. Unfortunate and wish Folston a quick recovery.

Unreal. Week 1 and we're out 3 starters in Jones, Folston, and Crawford.

Should we start a gofundme to send the boys to Lourdes and ask for Our Lady's intervention?

Sorry if it is an ACL, my point earlier is that I didn't think that the medical staff would let him ambulate on it at all, risking further damage!

My nieces husband is a pretty good orthopod, and he states that the average 50 year-old walks on knees not often bound by that ligament. I know a couple that fit that bill.

I know it is doable, but I thought the first step of repair was limiting potential damage.

I agree. It's not whether you CAN walk with a torn ACL, so all of the anecdotes about so-and-so's nephew did so a year ago are irrelevant. It's about whether the staff, knowing or suspecting that it's an ACL tear, would LET him do so.

Some people tear their ACL's, and never know it.....when I tore mine my senior year in HS, I knew. I wasn't getting up off of the ground without help from my teammates. I had a friend who tore hers during her junior year of tennis, and still played two weeks after before her knee started to be too painful for her. Every situation is different.

Crawford was not a starter, but I know what you mean. At least this team has more depth than any ND team in the past 20 years.

This blows. I hope Procise can carry the load here on out, because I'm not crazy about two frosh and a converted WR being responsible for Zaire's safety back there.

Awful news. RB was possibly the thinnest position on the roster (maybe other than QB) going into yesterday, and it just got thinner. Other than Zaire, there's not a player on offense that I think we could have least afforded to lose.

Hopefully Prosise will step up and have a monster season, with the freshmen providing depth off the bench. I'd be lying if I felt good about this team's RB situation.

I've thought all along the team could contend for a playoff spot if they avoided major injuries, but they've already been hit hard with two brutal injuries in Folston and Jones. Not sure how many of these kinds of hits the team can take before the wheels fall off in a similar fashion to last season.

Hopefully I'm just being too pessimistic.

How does this company to an ACL in terms of the rest of his career? Is this a better or worse scenario?

It's not unusual that they would do so.
