This is what I will always think of whenever someone says Texas State.

Happy for Golson, hope he tears it up and the Noles end the season 2-10.

Golson was always a quiet, reserved guy who wanted to do things the right way. It just wasn't in the cards at ND. I'm happy we have Malik leading this team for '15 but I bet Golson puts up gaudy numbers in some of their games.

See, Im gonna have to devils advocate you on that one. I saw Everett as the quiet but Im gonna do what Im gonna do type. Thats why BK flipped out so much all the time. It would almost be like "we talked and talked about this and you go out and do what you want instead of what I tell you to do" type thing.

Then when he wasnt given the golden reins that he thought he deserved, he took off for easier pastures.

Maybe too much half empty glass ideaology but that is my take on Everett.

That line of thinking can be born out by all of the interactions CBK and EG had on the sidelines. Where CBK would be talking to EG and EG is just ignoring him.

Oh well, sour grapes and all.

Can't wait to hear all of the college football writers and NDNation-types begin talking about "How bad does BK actually suck?" after Golson throws for 300+ and has 4 TD's against the mighty Texas State Bobcats, and becomes a Heisman hopeful immediately.

(Kind of like all the hype Golson got after Rice, I guess lol)

My guess is Jimbo is going to ask Everett to do a lot less than BK did, and he'll rely on his running backs more which will help reduce EG's turnovers. Then the talking heads will be like "Jimbo is the QB Whisperer! He cured Golson's turnover problem!"

Chuck it downfield to your gaggle of five star WRs against the worst teams Golson has played against in his entire career...... Yeah, he might do OK.

It's not over, good game by him against a weak team. I'm torn. On on hand, I'm proud of him. On the other, it's like..."oh, now you know how to hold on to the ball!"

Congrats on a good day.

On the other hand, his pro day isn't going to get any better than this.

He held onto the ball the first 5-6 games last year. Let's just wait until the sample size is big enough to draw conclusions.

I want him and Zaire to finish 1/2 in the Heisman voting. With Zaire losing because Fuller splits the ND votes and finishes 3rd.

What?? I'm not bitter the least bit and want Golson to do good but I'd prefer him not to win the Heisman. Also no one should expect Golson to be as turn over prone as last year, I mean it's just natural progression to expect him to have learned something over the offseason and improve a bit. I doubt he has anywhere near the 22 turnovers he had last year.

Pretty sure he started turning the rock over by the Syracuse game which was game 4. The team was able to overcome the turnovers through the 1st 6 games because the bottom hadn't fallen off the defense yet.

I certainly hope we don't rehash EG's season from last year after every game he plays this year...

Congrats on a good game last night EG.

Golson is a great QB. Let it go. He made 1 or 2 bonehead plays last year and Kelly did psychological damage on him. Just like he did with Dayne Crist. Tommy Rees compensated by just hitting the ground if someone was close to him or immediately throwing the ball away. Zaire will make mistakes and occasional bonehead plays this season, too. Let's see how he responds after them, and--as importantly--how Kelly's dialogue and body language toward him after his mistakes.

Who cares he isn't in Blue and gold anymore. Zaire is our Qb. as long as EG doesn't get hurt i don't care if FSU wins another game he is the enemy now.

Golson is not a great QB, he has some great QB gifts: monster arm, can scramble and accurate when he doesn't have linemen blocking his view. He also panics at times or takes plays off mentally. Kelly didn't damage him, Kelly saw firsthand the disparity between Golson playing his best and Golson taking plays off and couldn't handle it. It cost us a number of games. It shouldn't be that difficult to tuck the ball when your running/scrambling.

I wish Golson nothing but the best but calling Golson a great QB is disingenuous unless you mean great high school QB. That he was.

Yeah. Crist really did thrive once he got re-connected with Weis.

This. I supported Golson while he was in the blue and gold, but I'm glad he's away from the program. I'd rather have Zaire in there any day, he has the heart and the leadership this team needs. I'd rather have Rees in there too over Golson.
