Do we know the media schedule for the rest of camp? Working backwards from the Texas presser on 9/1 (I assume), will there be a full media day at the conclusion of camp? Any word on whether the SS unveiling will be its own thing or included at one of BK's pressers?

I still did not see Watkins being beaten, he looks amazing.

Is McGlinchey a lock to start at RT position? Bars looks GREAT and Kelly is in love with him judging the way he talks about him..

Reps, sir! Both good points.

There are a number of young corners that are playing great it seems. In addition to Watkins, the two Ohio freshmen, Coleman and Crawford are playing way beyond their years. Not talking about breaking into the starting lineup, but I wonder, are they playing well enough to "push the pile?" Wouldn't it be great if they helped the whole position group improve their level of play?

And with the McGlinchey and Bars situation, what a similarly great situation to have to push a position group forward and to help gel the offensive line as a cohesive unit!

This all to me is a really important tell as to the potential of a team in a given season. In other words, it is great to see a few polished plays in the early camp highlights, but seeing this kind of intense competition as well played and intensely productive as it seems, portends to a greater ceiling for the team.

Also, Mike Sanford emphasizing how good Harry was as a coach, (not just one of the best o-line coaches, but one of the best coaches in America, overall), how important the o-line is, and how well they are doing with both phases of the blocking game, is further evidence that the Irish are on the right track. Also, by the way Coach Sanford couldn't have said much better about all three quarterbacks! He touched on what was important, better timing for Zaire, better physical conditioning and confidence for Kaiser, and the mindset of Wimbush coming in to camp!

ESB toasted Cole Luke on one of those reps. That was awesome.

Coleman also looked decent in man coverage. He got beat a couple times, but also made a couple nice plays.

In the clips that we have seen I've been pretty impressed with Coleman as well. Didn't play a lot of corner in high school so I was expecting a little but more of an adjustment period.

Regarding Mustipher standing up Cage: coming out of high school he was our strongest OLine recruit and a locally-legendary forklift of a lifter. He is going to stand a lot of people up if they're not moving out of his direct line of power.

What I saw of the OLine in the few clips looked good; note Steve Elmer's footwork not allowing {Morgan was it?} any maneuverability during the entire play. As to McGlinchey: you don't lose a starting position because some other player looks good in a couple of filmed reps. The fact that Kelly reamed Mount McGlinchey a new one during one practice for missing an assignment would more likely mean to me that Coach thinks McGlinchey awfully important such that he would do that with that intensity.

ESB DID look freakily good --- expanded my consciousness on our receivers --- how the he!l we gonna get all of them on the field? Makes Brent's going to RB make a little more sense too [though Lord 'lone knows I'd like to see him quick twitch the jocks off of folks from the slot or wherever.]

.... we are so dammed loaded .... how are we going to screw this up? Looking at you, Malik. YOU have it together, we ROLL.

We are only seeing select clips, and they've been both ups and downs, but you can see that he looks pretty comfortable operating as a pure CB already (or at least comfortable in man coverage. I guess he could still play safety and drop into the nickle spot like Shumate did to play in man coverage underneath/over the middle).

180 days will give you such a crick in the neck!

2015 pre-season bod squad:

Honorable mention: Chris Brown

2nd team: Justin Brent, ESB, KVR

1st team: Max Redfield, Asmir Bilai, Jaylon Smith

2015 bod squad captain: Peter Mokwuah

Lots can happen between now and end of season, but look for these players to all achieve 1st team All-American accolades this year as well as one taking home the heisman trophy.

Welcome back Koon. Surely Tevon Coney has to be an honorable mention? CJ Sanders & Crawford, despite vertical limitations, are very well put together.

per wiltfong----doesn't expect Sanford to go anywhere anytime soon talking (years unless a major job) he mentioned it to the likes of pat narduzzi..he loves it at ND..the negative recruiting out there that he is unhappy that he isn't calling plays is complete BULLSHIT..BK was very upfront w/ him and he is perfectly happy with that...he has a GREAT relationship w/ BK and the chemistry is really showing

I want to see more in the traps from Coney. Solid core, though. Sanders and Crawford are on the bubble.

I'll tell you what. As Bama showed us in '12, the ability of being able to constantly rotate in high quality DT's into a game can really wreak havoc on an opponent. Inside pressure on a QB will force teams to get out of the pocket, where Jaylon will just clean. The. Fuq. Up...

Yea, definitely important to note that we're only seeing limited reps but especially from the freshman, 6-8 reps, which is what we've seen from some of them, is definitely enough to look at most tangible qualities and make decisions.

For example, if these guys were in a camp setting thats the number of reps they'd get. When looking at things like foot speed and quickness, body control, agility, hip flexibility, etc. those can all be gleaned from that many reps. If you can physically do something once, you should be able to do it again. Now, what we can't see is the intangibles like picking up the offense, concentration and focus to duplicate what you did before.

If Cage is now 3rd string nose tackle even with an extra year's experience, says a huge amount about the kind of depth we have there. And even he was injured by the end of last year, it's really no wonder the defense fell down the stretch.

Is Matuska 4th string then? That's much better depth than we're used to.
