I hope Brown gets the starting nod over Robinson. I think he can do more within the offense.

I'm actually the opposite. Robinson has had a nice camp. In the vids and per the press conferences, he's improved in every facet of his game. He was already a more complete WR before camp than Brown.

Brown seems like a one trick pony. Electric straight line speed. Robinson makes up for that physical attribute with size/hands.

Good problem to have though.

Is able to stretch the field vertically and horizontally as well as go over the middle. Its fairly painful to watch how slow Robinson is with the horizontal passing game and he's fairly non-existent over the middle. Robinson's size gives him a huge advantage but that doesn't make him a more complete WR or a better fit. I'd like to have 3 guys that we can move around at will, I don't believe Corey can be as effective doing that.

BGI put up a podcast with Coach D and Lou S talking about the Defense. They talk about how much depth we have and how the most of the freshman DL won't have to play. However, they do make it a point to say that MDT was catching their eye and might force himself into the mix. Just thought that was interesting. Getting fairly excited about this DL group and its future.

With all the talk of our great wife recievers and such, I was just curious if we know how many passes a game we are expecting? Has anyone broken it down yet? In the bowl game we attempted 26 passes. I know we really had to pound it with a rookie QB to minimize the mistakes and play to our strengths, but has anyone on here given their thoughts about the break down of our offense this year and the number of rushing attempts and passing attempts?

BK singles out Weishar, St. Brown, Coleman and Crawford as guys that stood out this week. Bodes well that so many young guys are coming out of the gate strong. Also confirms what we've already been seeing in the practice vids (save for Weishar who I haven't seen do much).

Brown has looked good so far; also nothing negative of note coming out of camp on his performances to date.

II on their monday podcast said they believe it's Brown as the 1 with Robinson as the 1a. They see much more than us, albeit from one practice, than we will ever see in these little highlight videos.

I like Robinson. I like Brown. One will start, but both will get plenty of receptions and more than a few touchdowns this season.

How are you classifying "small"? I'm assuming there would be a receiving threat at TE (Weishar/Jones) and potentially Prosise in the backfield. I have a hard time leaving Robinson off the field, but being able to draw the S deep from 2 WR spots could give defenses a lot of trouble handling the RB/TE/Slot combos we would be throwing out there.

Oregon has consistently been one of the best zone read teams in the country. Over the last 5 years I would definitely categorize there WR's as small or at least as small as that unit would be. In fact, Auburn fans coined the phrase "rocket powered midgets" when speaking about Oregons offense prior to the NCG game. No real need for WR's to drive block CB's. Just get a body on them.

My ideal situation would put a guy like Alize on the field with Robinson, Hunter and Fuller. As long as we are gashing them with Malik/Folston/Procise, then we will force mismatches downfield. That lineup gives us the most opportunity for mismatches imo.

Leaving two speedy guys, that if by some miracle they can man on... will leave a corner on our most physical receiver. One that if makes the catch, has either one or two small guys to beat in order to get to the house.

I really see the offense moving best if we have one large possession receiver. At worst, it gives us a secondary option for first downs with a back shoulder pass against a complete mismatch.

I'm going to pretend like Greg Bryant didn't exist. Two things I want to know about this camp are 1) How's Yoon looking? His play is going to be a big deal, and I haven't seen anything about him so far. 2) Can Justin Brent be a play maker at RB? He's our biggest, strongest, probably fastest back and I think he could be a bull dozer if he gets carries. Is he going to be an emergency guy, or are we legitimately going to have 3 RBs, him being the 3rd? Bryant always got like 2 carries a game as the 3rd wheel. I'm hoping Brent can get more.

I understand what you're saying, but having a possession receiver out there all the time would kill the illusion. Anyways, that's why they have 1 and 1A. They'll be splitting reps with Brown getting the majority (most likely), but it won't be enough to have any opposing defense deciding "this is how we defend position X". That's why having WR depth is so amazing. You may have a "starter", but they'll both play enough to keep a defense honest.

I know what you mean. If we can kick confidently from 40 and in, I'd be very happy. Brindza was a good kicker, but I'd rather have an accurate from 40-in guy than a guy who can make a 60 yarder and shank a 25 yarder. Will always appreciate Brindza for making the LSU field goal.

I'm going crazy with the out on a limb predictions tonight, but quote this post and color me shocked if Yoon hit less than 85% from the field this year. No logic or anything, but just a gut feeling.
