To people worried about a "culture fit". He's walking into a position that's as loaded as college position can reasonably be. If he doesn't become a fit with the culture, Harry will probably kick his ass in practice and he won't play.

I'm not worried about it. He chose to come to ND despite the amount of talent in front of him, seems to understand the value of the ND degree, and is shutting down his recruitment. Seems like a good get.

Per the Clemson mod and this seems to be the norm regarding Parker. But if Heistand wants him then I'm all for it

As you guys know he committed to Notre Dame. My opinion is Clemson is better off without him. I don't think he fits in the group of Offensive Linemen the staff has recruited in terms of personalities. Some of his antics wouldn't mesh well with the current culture at Clemson either. Some that I've spoken with haven't been impressed with his consistency of being tough. Coach Kelly does a good job developing guys so it will be interesting to watch.

I'm as old school as the next but if people thought he was a bad kid or a fit problem he wouldn't have collected 72 FBS offers. As far as I know, that's the all time record for any sport.

Are you kidding? What are you 50 or something??? lol

Bleacher Report produces a Commitment Video (probably will be the norm next year as that just made the 'pick a hat off the table' look prehistoric) for him, he has a song written and produced for him and you think other kids are going to look at him like he's an idiot? What you just watched is the future and 90% of other recruits are not only jealous of P-Money right now, they are planning their announcement videos too.

.

It would be one thing if the video was cool and more like a Nike commercial, this fell far short of that. It came off corny and contrived. I asked my 16 year old nephew (who is really cool, just ask him) and he said it was lame. So there's that.

Your nephew might like a LAdy Gaga video and hate a Nirvana video ...but he likes videos in general.

Big picture is, great concept even if content was lacking on this particular video.

As with most things in life, it's personal preference.

I like it.....love the attitude and nothing wrong with having a bad ass personality!

No smiles here!

Sásta go bhfuil tú ar bord, Parker!

Now, about some posts in this thread :

Seems like those constantly critical found something to criticize; maybe like doing the #samethingoverandoveragain will someday make them feel "better!"

#notachanceinfvckinhell

I have a strong feeling that not only is this an embarrassment of riches in a position group parallel to the all time best, but that it will turn out better for ND to have gotten Parker, than Ben. And please, I still really like Ben and understand the decision he made.

The why :
No smiles; Parker has a bad attitude, no matter whether it starts out as pandering or is one hundred percent personality. Speaking it is the first step to bringing it into reality; and on a good team useful attitudes spread!
Parker is (or strongly comes off as) a lunch-bucket, blue-collar kind of guy with that southern bayou kind of guy; something to give recruits forward something to think about.
I think Parker is bigger that Ben, and of the four, I believe he has the lowest center of gravity and possibly the lowest body fat rate. If you look closely, he doesn't have a lot extra on his frame. Any fat he does have has been pushed around by muscle, several times. And still he has a frame that can add more weight.
His body looks particularly durable, and his leg drive (obviously) outstanding, which is exactly what we need to advance the efficiency of the running game.

Don't ever smile in South Bend, Parker, just fight!

I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy here & I hope I am 100% wrong. However, I have a bad feeling that his recruitment ISN'T over. Again, I HOPE I AM WRONG, but it kind of feels like that Barnett kid that plays QB. He was all ND and then he wasn't. I'm not comparing the two as far as anything other than they appear to be all ND at first. I am happy that he committed! I just hope he is 100% committed to ND for the next 5 to 6 years.

Well... He said that he is cutting off all contact with other schools, so we will find out soon enough.

Yeah, I saw that and I hope it holds true. However, my first impressiono of the young man is that he kind of likes attention. Now, this is a weak first impression because it is via the Internet, so maybe it's WAY off. It just makes me wonder what he is going to do when the lime light fades away. A coach from another school keeps showing love & Parker sees it as a way to get back in that lime light.

Welcome to ND, Parker. You have joined a very special group that Notre Dame fans are going to remember for a long time. Enjoy your first meal over at the Hoge household. Get in front of the food line. You and your fellow linemen are going to need lots of energy to make life easy for our quarterbacks and our running backs. The University of Notre Dame will prepare you for life. Harry Hiestand will get you ready for the NFL.

I didn't know following recruiting could be so entertaining. This was a real kick. Too bad I don't know anything.

As to the video: I was born in 1940.

I really liked it. {so much for your hot-and-now "modern" prejudices}

Pulling the huge weight off the Notre Dame logo to reveal his commitment was Blue Collar Lunchbucket clever. Welcome to the Irish, Parker!!!

Trust me, the video could have been much worse haha. It beats a music video, so there is that!

Great addition. Great family. Great background.

From Pete Sampson's Twitter - "Just a thought. For all the hype stuck on ND’s O-line haul today, it’s the third-best group the Irish have landed in the past four years."

Nastiness!!! All for it in the trenches and want a punch you in the mouth type guy. It's time to stand in a guy's face and not blink when he stares at you running his mouth.

New to IE - 1st post. I am 42 located in Texas(yes its hell with the fan base down here). I think think this is the wave of the future as far as recruitment/announcing is concerned. I think he will be a welcomed addition to the OL, maybe the butt of a few jokes.....and I bet he puts a few DL players on their butts as well. Anyway thanks for allowing me to be part of IE....GO IRISH!!

Welcome! It's a good site.

Now for the serious stuff: Which of my posts would you describe as "brilliant", "transcendent", or "I felt as though I was staring into the very face of God"?

If you don't have the time (or space!) to list them all, that's fine. Just send me $500 in unmarked bills and we'll call it even.
