Not impressed at all. Using a box for stabilization isnt actual squatting. We used to do this box squat crap in high school and 600 lbs with a box squat isnt anything special.

Now do it parallel when your eyes are popping blood vessels and that is special.

I don't think a lot of strength programs ask guys to form squat with max weight anymore.

Not impressed at all. Using a box for stabilization isnt actual squatting. We used to do this box squat crap in high school and 600 lbs with a box squat isnt anything special.

Now do it parallel when your eyes are popping blood vessels and that is special.

I don't think a lot of strength programs ask guys to form squat with max weight anymore.

We used Gatorade coolers on our max squats in high school. The purpose was to make sure we went to parallel rather than stopping short, but it also defeated that purpose at the same time... You don't have to work to get to parallel when you know there's a rest waiting for you.

And, it's really easy to add 150+ pounds to your max when you're able to roll back on the cooler and get some momentum to explode back up with haha.

C'mon man. Look, thats a high box, his technique is crap, he sat straight down instead of hips back and he plopped. But lets not disregard the fact that Box squats have there place in regards to physical preparation. especially in the discipline of football.

Obviously when you start manipulating range of motion your strength levels change lets be generous and say that's 5 inches above parallel . according to you that's 30lbs per inch...So! with that being said...here is some reading material that will give you a thorough explanation of the aspects of the strength pendulum or strength curve. Obviously strength curve with manipulated range of motion will increase the amount of weight being pushed but...150lbs? maybe if we throw some INZER predators or metal Briefs on him. But he would never being able to figure those out, he needs a squat overhaul anyway.

your coolers have springs or something? Maybe that's where the extra 150 came from? some type of assistance? I'm sorry, I'm just being a prick. This is what I do, I'm a strength coach. Well as a second job.

I'll add this though, you CAN manipulate the box squat to 'help' you get up. BUT, that's not a box squat, thats a shitty squat that he sacrificed technique for weight. Which that "coach" should know better than to let that happen. That will have some good placebo effect, but in regards to orthopedics? yikes, they need to reevaluate.

Also, to some what agree with you, I don't mind my football players using an above parallel box, but this is too high, and serves no real purpose other than the fact that he bent down and stood up with 6 on his back.

He does seem to be about the weights though. I agree with an above poster, move this dude to safety turn him into a Jack Tatum like assassin.

I'll tell you, i've been in out of Powerlifting Gyms since I was 15. Its almost a guarantee that you're either listening to Old School Rap or some sort of Norwegian death metal. Nothing gets you more jacked than Eazy E and some Ammonia caps lol

I dunno about that. Seems between this video and the porn chasers, this guy is all about the flair and not about delivering. I dont know if he has the jack to play D. Take this video. Clearly cupcake material to make the average joe who knows zip about weights gawk and say how powerful he is.

It's true, but it's not like it isn't impressive. I just wouldn't drool over it. Like there was some video of John Cena squatting what people mistook as over 600 pounds...turned out it was 396 pounds. Impressive, but not godly or anything.
