"It's a blessing of course, and a chance that a lot of other players don't get to have," Wills said. "My parents like Notre Dame a lot. They think it's a great opportunity, but we haven't talked too much about the offer or anything, yet.
(elston)
"He told my coach that he was going to let me know when the best time to come up would be. I'll try to figure it all out then," Wills said, when asked about a potential visit.

If only the parents made the decisions... ND would play the winner of Duke - Stanford in the NC every year.

Scout: Willis praises Heistand

Four-star junior tackle Jedrick Wills called working with Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand the highlight of his Irish Invasion experience.

Still months from his junior season, offensive tackle Jedrick Wills already holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame and South Carolina.

On Friday night the 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Ky., worked on molding that massive potential during the Irish Invasion. The 16-year old, who was offered by Notre Dame in April, was accompanied by his parents and two siblings.

“I enjoyed myself,” Wills said. “Seeing campus was good because it was unique and different from all of the other schools that I’ve seen. It was very spiritual. The other schools I’ve seen are much more free. But, I definitely liked it.”

Wills was the top offensive lineman to work out at Irish Invasion as commitments Liam Eichenberg, Tommy Kraemer and Dillon Gibbons watched from the sidelines. Wills’ length, mean streak and college frame let him hold his own against senior defensive end Tomon Fox and junior Corey Malone-Hatcher.

“I definitely wish there would have been more linemen there, and I wish the commits would have played,” Wills said. “That would have been nice.”

The highlight of the visit was working closely with Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand.

“I was able to talk with the coach that was recruiting me (Mike Elston) and coach (Mike) Denbrock, too,” Wills said. “I got to be coached by Harry Hiestand, and he definitely taught us things that were different than what I’ve learned in high school. Mostly about hand placement, technique and other fundamentals.”

New programs continue to enter the mix for Wills.

“I’m pretty open to all schools at this point,” Wills said. “I’m not sure when I’ll narrow my list because I want to visit all of the schools that have offered me before I do that.”

A return to Notre Dame is something that could be in store.

“Possibly, because like I said, I liked working with the coaches at Notre Dame,” Wills said. “Coach Hiestand explained to me that he wants me to come back for another visit, and he said I was very coachable and he likes that.”

(regarding his mom and HH)"She liked him," Wills said on Tuesday. "She really liked the personality of all of the coaches and the campus and everything." -

"I can play all of the positions and even some center. [Coach Hiestand] kind of mentioned that I'm at the top of the 2017 class and one of the head guys that they are after," he said.
mom is already pushing for a return trip.

"I think we're going to be back for a game this season," Wills said - See more at: https://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1777433#sthash.zbiZ6FTg.dpuf

#13 on the new Rivals 100
Wow. If we land him, Johnson, and Wright, we would have three top-30 recruits. At least as per Rivals. Wonder when the last time we could say that. Maybe the Crist/Rudolph class?

EDIT: Floyd, duh. So 2008 it is. Been a while.

If Heistand is able to pull off the class I think he's going to again this cycle, he has to be considered one of the best recruiters in the country or at least position recruiters.

Gibbons, Lugg, Wills? Are they targeting a 4th?

I considered him the best o-line recruiter like 2 cycles ago lol

An o-line class of Lugg, Gibbons, Smith, and Wills would be, by far, the best o-line class Notre Dame has ever had. (At least going by rankings)

An o-line, from left to right, of Kraemer-Boudreaux-Hoge-Wills-Eichenberg with Lugg, Smith, and Gibbons just waiting their turn is frightening.

Me too but I'm saying if we land those 4 he'd have to be considered the best position recruiter or maybe assistant recruiter in the country. He'd have landed a top 5 position (OL) in what, 4 of the last 5 cycles. Not sure too many coaches can say that.

I remember spending time on the Yuckeyes board and they were saying the same thing about their guy. However, I think Harry is the boss!

Separate question: Does anyone else laugh their arse off when watching these elite OL Highlight films when there is one pancake after another. I'd hate to be the father in the stands of the kid getting pancaked repeatedly. OMG, some of them are so funny!

Personally, I think you want 3 blue-chippers and 1 developmental, glue guy. You don't want it so crowded that there is no light at the end of the tunnell, and you need a guy who just sets the right tone practice, after practice, after practice.

You take 4 if they are all really excited to come, but I am not sure I'd go all-in for that 4th guy unless he was a legit 5-star.

Huge news, I think he could wait on a decision a while but a return trip to ND just shows how interested he is in ND

Yea, at some of these smaller schools where the competition really doesn't have any business being across the LOS from some of these guys its pretty funny to watch. I'm from a small town in Minnesota and when I was a Junior in HS, one of my close friends started getting recruited by some of the bigger FCS schools in the midwest and even then he would line up across from guys that had zero chance of ever winning 1 down or rep. Needless to say when he ended up at NDSU it wasn't the same, lol.

He's good. The weird thing is, only three of those guys are starters right now. Next year will be the first full Heistand OL.
