I was suggesting that if you don't see a difference between SB commercials and the other 364 days a year then you're not paying close attention. It wasn't a comment on the need to watch or fawning when you do.

OK. Understood. Appreciated.

I pay little attention to TV ads, much less "close."

Woody Guthrie would have hated This Land Is Your Land in a commercial for Jeep.

Ain't dat da truff. Had I bothered to watch the commercial I might have more to expound.

As it is, I can extrapolate and frown.

I don't think they ran any national ads during the Super Bowl... but yeah, in general, it cracks me up that there has to be a multi-million dollar national marketing campaign for a service that was "desperately needed" because "millions" of Americans were "dying in the streets."

(Everything I just put in air bunnies is something actually said by real people supporting Obamacare).

Each year that commercials get worse. It is terrible. If I am an owner of a corporation and that's the best my marketing dept can do someone is getting fired.

I liked the Subway dodge ball triathlon commercial. Didn't make me want an overpriced sandwich on stale bread, but it made me laugh.

Worst commercial so far was the Nissan one that glorified absentee fathering.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using Tapatalk.

It was a little odd, but they weren't really glorifying absentee fathering. It had more to do with the fact that fathers often do what they can to put food on the table. My father has been a salesman most of my life, and growing up he was gone at least Mon-Fri and home on the weekends, if that. It sucked, but it's how dad knew how to provide a steady paycheck. I think the part that muddied the waters was the fact the father was a race car driver which is not a typical job. Harder to relate to that I think, and one would think that a race car has safer options to make money, although you're looking at less income. They probably decided to use a race car driver to try and tug on the heart strings with the crash.

I don't really agree. There were some that were pretty funny and some that were sweet. I think our expectations are unrealistically high. I can't recall a year when people were satisfied with the commercials. All in all, I actually think this year was pretty decent.

Dad was certainly the topic of the commercials this year tho. All sorts of ways of looking at it but most had to do with father figure of some kind.

Really hit home with me. I traveled(Monday - Friday) for ten years and took a significant step back in my career to be home for my kids(best decision ever). I wanted to reach through the TV and slap that dad around.

Subway is over priced???
It's overpriced for what it is (shitty quality cold cuts). Walk into Subway with $5 and you'll get way less than what you'd get at McDonalds or Taco Bell for the same caliber of shittiness.

Yeah... I'll disagree on that one.

I also would never call a $5 lunch overpriced, regardless of what it was. What do you expect for that amount of money? A prime rib?

Maybe Subway is cheaper where you're at? The $5 was just to make a point. Can you actually get a lunch for $5? If I'm getting a 12-inch and a soda here, it's going to run me about $10 unless it's one of their monthly specials.

Subway < McDonalds == Taco Bell?
Your Subway must really suck. Not saying Subway is gourmet dining, but it's at least somewhat better for you than McDonalds or Taco Bell. Your $5 may or may not get you more food from Subway than the other two, but I would think the quality of the food is at least slightly better.

All I remember is a feminist commercial that had to have been made with the intellect of Anita Sarkesian.

For the money, yes. But Subway offers a lot healthier choices and the "caliber of shittiness" is per the individual. I happen to enjoy the turkey on wheat. My $5 gets me a whopping 280 calories of food. Compare that to when my inner-fat-kid wins and I go to McDs where my $5 gets me a 1220 calorie, quarter pounder with cheese meal. A lot more food for the money. But a lot more calories as well.
