This better not be one of those situations where He wanted to commit tonight and the staff told him just wait and think things through and announce on signing day to slow play him.

I understand your concern. I have followed recruiting for awhile now and as you know, anything can happen. Still this could be a very exciting day for Irish fans with the potential of Williams and ESB signing with ND. Who knows maybe a S waits to pull the trigger too and maybe even a surprise?

Most the time the staff knows where a kid is going to end up or where he is leaning towards. Usually the kids who sign on signing day as well are usually the top guys so there is room no matter what

Love your optimism! Ya never know, and from everything that we have all read, he would fit in very well. Obviously shouldn't get your hopes up, but if those three names were on the list come signing day it would be incredie and I am already expecting two of them (DW and ESB)!

I'm not holding out hope, but if he waivers on his commitment to Alabama, I like ND's chances. Not really expecting anything, but would love to get this guy and finish an absolutely insane DL class.

I don't think this is a big deal, but Rivals reporting Dexter's HC said that Miami Assistant coach will be at the highschool on Thursday.

Not necessarily sour grapes. If speculation is correct regarding Dexter Williams, Notre Dame coaches did the honorable thing considering they have only one slot left for a running back. Vaughn's mother either responded honestly to a question asked of her or simply listed the remaining offers available to her son. No sour grapes in doing either one. I have not seen anything negative from either her or her son regarding the way Notre Dame handled his recruitment. The Vaughns seem to have moved on from the Notre Dame offer and remain positive regarding the other offers remaining on the table. He has some offers to play football for some fine universities. Notre Dame is an excellent university, but it is not the only game in town.

I would not assume that ND feels it is definitely out with Soso, and that therefore the deal with Dexter is that he is in, if Soso is not. Thus the NSD announcement date. Again, I am not saying this IS the case, but I am old enough to know not to just assume it is not. I am sure they had a similar arrangement between Vaughn and Williams.

I highly doubt this. Dexter has a lot of offers for big name schools that would take him now. I do not believe he would wait on ND to see if Soso commits on NSD and put himself in a very difficult situation with other schools after NSD. I just don't see a player of this caliber putting his future in that much jeopardy.

More likely Dexter preferred to wait til NSD, right? If coaches think they're still in with Soso, he's a take no matter what. But given our need at RB it's hard to imagine we're playing games with a recruit of Dexter's caliber this late in the process.

I have to believe that Dexter is basically a silent at this point. The same way we told Cager that his spot was taken (by ESB) and the visit was unnecessary, we told Vaughn that we would no longer be visiting as we are full at RB.

If BK thought that there was any chance that Dexter were to sign anywhere else, he would likely drag the Vaughn recruitment out as long as realistically possible.
