I wouldn't say it was common, but I knew a few profs who made special exceptions on specific assignments and tests to take a redo. My freshman theology professor was really lenient with his tests in that way. Everyone had 1 available redo, and if you had an A at the end of the semester without using your redo, you were exempt from the final. His tests were insanely hard though.

I am a little confused here. It is syllabus week... How did he fail a test already. If it was last semester, how could they change a grade retroactively? I just don't understand the timeline here.

It's Jimmy... So take what he says and believe the opposite, lol.

He probably scored so highly on the test that they asked him to come to a honors seminar to consider being an honors student .

I've never heard of a ND professor letting you retake a test, let alone retake one 1 month after grades are due. That's a huge pain to change a grade, even for an athlete.

in my experience most college professors are willing to grant some leeway if you show up for every class, participate in class, complete homework regularly, and are showing effort to get extra help.
