2014 would have GAIII, Cam, Carlisle, Folston and Mahone.

GAIII and Cam are gone after that, so you're down to three RBs in 2015. Need to sign one in this class for sure now and give him a year to learn.

Not to mention it is one more scholarship down towards the 85 man. Which we can't afford to keep losing. Hell at the rate we are going we are gonna need a 30 man class.

cant remember the post but tp or maybe it was lax had a comment right after bk announced his red shirt/injury that kelly has done this in past to save face and that it almost guaranteed a transfer.

BTW Hood was the best RB prospect I've seen committed to ND since I've followed recruiting. He ran hard and was a special blend of power/speed/balance. Still can't believe he's gone... and Starks got himself in hot water... this is getting reminiscent of CB recruiting in 2012.

I was sort of joking about this. Yes, Bo would go a long way (maybe the whole way) toward making up for Bryant's departure, but I don't think anyone really expects him to pick ND. (But then again, no one expected Bryant to pick ND this time last year.)

But in any case, getting more 5 stars doesn't solve the problem of 5 stars leaving as soon as they get here. Maybe nothing can, but it is frustrating.

Understatement.

That #3 overall recruiting class? Already lost 2 of the top 4 players. It's the same story every year. Something is not adding up in terms of expectations vs. reality... or the coaches aren't recruiting guys with the right mindset.

We all bitch and moan about recruiting RKGs, but that is EXACTLY what Kelly needs to do. That is basically what Stanford does. RKGs like ND. Other kids don't so much- culture matters.

The fact is, if the kid is a stud and really wants to go to ND, sign him up. Georgia boys TJ Jones and Tuitt are studs who fit perfectly. I am not saying avoid 5 stars. But we may need to screen for kids who may not be able to handle the fact that ND is not FSU.

A 4-star in the hand, is better than a 5-star transfer!

I don't think Hood fits this description, btw. He was worth the swing and miss.

We'll recruit him as a LB, but Mora will promise him first look at RB, so he'll sign with UCLA. And then he'll become an All-American LB anyway.

I'm still holding out hope for getting back in with Hood. UNC is having an ugly season, our depth chart just got a whole lot more inviting, and Elijah's heart is probably still in South Bend.

More than half of Irish Eyes was convinced that Weis was the second coming of Ara Parseghian. If Bryant is listening to amateurs about his future, he's going to be in for a rude surprise.

I absolutely hate how recruiting rankings have skewed fans and players perceptions. Very, very few freshman make an instant meaningful contribution. There are many more highly recruited guys like Nix who redshirt, and turn out to be players in time. Others simply aren't as good as the hype and never pan out. The difference is that before these recruiting sites players were judged by what they did on the field, not what the recruiting site told a bunch of amateurs on a message board. Then, depending upon the politics of the situation, if the amateurs don't like the coach, they will use the recruits ranking as evidence that the coach doesn't know what he's doing. It's bullsh$t.
