What an arrogant jacka$$. He's been in the league two years, had a minor splash of success, and now wants to pack up and leave Philly?

That's why I feel he's almost certainly best suited for heading back to college at some point.

This situation is so parallel to Harbaugh. Last year at this time, there was a rift and Harbaugh almost got sent to Cleveland. That's effectively where we're at right now with Kelly in Philly. Does he move on or does he roll into next season with baggage?

So then next season will roll around and IF he can have a big year he could right the ship, but if he misses the playoffs he's almost certainly done... at which point it's either on to another NFL team or an NCAA team. Chance are, there will be an NCAA team more willing to meet his price tag and demands, just a question of who.

That's the problem with some of these super head strong college coaches they won't have complete control at this level. They think they can get it and then realize that they can't. Chip is a college coach and not NFL imo.

Kelly is now in control of personel decisions. Looks like he got what he wanted.

I guess? They fired his guy which led to this fiasco. My hunch is that this is a compromise to see what happens next year and one of them will be gone.

To be fair ownership fired his guy. The same guy that Kelly said hat to be there as a precursor to him being hires. Its really ownership making the bold move here more so than Kelly.

The same Schefter who said Harbaugh wasn't going to Michigan?

He, along with many others, said in the beginning that he wasn't going and it sounds like that was true early on but as time passed, he changed his tune like many others eventually saying he would go.

Its laughable because a lot of them were saying, even up to and including the Michigan presser, that he was headed to another NFL team. As we now know Harbaugh was signed sealed and delivered (in principle) on Dec 22nd.

Whatever Schefter said about Harbaugh, Mora to the NFL seems like only a matter of time. If not this year then next. UCLA's not a forever job for a guy like him.

This is one you guys need to watch as it will have an impact on Irish recruiting in Ohio if Marrow does accept the UM position. When he can pull several high level players from that state to go to UK, just think what he could possibly do selling Harbaugh and UM.

Seriously, he's a boss. If I had to choose another coach besides BK, it would probably be Strong.

I said we should go after Strong back before we chose Kelly. When I said this, people acted like it was a terrible idea because he had no HC experience, and ND couldn't go through another coach learning on the job.

Granted I made the comment on another site that ran during Weis's tenure, Blue Gray Sky.

Heard If OSU were to win national title Urban might consider going to the Pros. Potentially the 49ers.

I don't believe it one bit. But a guy can hope.

I cannot imagine that. Urban Meyer is going to make Tressel's dominance of the Big Ten look tame.

Urban seems like a guy who's found his element, but if you're gonna fly, after winning a 3rd NC at a second school is the time to do it. How do you exceed yourself after that?

From all of the reports and stories I've heard the last couple of years from Dan Dakich, I think Urban's ego may be too big for him to go to the NFL.

Grantland's Matt Hinton has ranked the new CFB coaching hires. The bits about Harbaugh and McElwain made me laugh:

1. Michigan

Jim Harbaugh elevated Stanford from laughingstock to BCS winner in four years. Jim Harbaugh took a dormant 49ers franchise to three consecutive NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl. Jim Harbaugh swam the length of Lake Erie in the dead of night with a briefcase full of vital documents tied to one leg and an Asian carp clamped to the other. Jim Harbaugh infiltrated the North Korean regime on a humanitarian mission. Jim Harbaugh escaped from Alcatraz. Jim Harbaugh is featured on bass in rare bootleg sessions with Frank Zappa, Warren Zevon, and Prince. Jim Harbaugh single-handedly opened, stocked, and staffed a sustainably sourced soup kitchen. Jim Harbaugh led a ragtag band of light Numidian cavalry across the Alps. Jim Harbaugh ghostwrote an entire season of Frasier (one of the good ones). Restoring Michigan to a status worthy of the winged helmet will be the easiest job Jim Harbaugh has ever had.

...

8. Florida

Most fan bases greet their new coach with a combination of enthusiasm and relief. Occasionally, there’s an element of surprise, and maybe a few notes of skepticism. But rarely if ever can I recall anything like the collective shrug that accompanied the extended public courtship between Florida and Jim McElwain, who is qualified for the job in the same way that a new pair of pants are qualified to be a Christmas gift. They’re nice enough, they’re functional, and, if they fit, you can look forward to having them around for a long time with minimal maintenance.

Like his doomed predecessor, Will Muschamp, McElwain is a product of the Nick Saban coaching tree, having overseen Alabama’s offense en route to national championships in 2009 and 2011. Unlike Muschamp, who had never been a head coach before landing in Gainesville, McElwain also padded his résumé with a three-year stint as the top dog at Colorado State, which produced a steady increase from four wins in 2012 to eight in 2013 to 10 last year. All that really says about his prospects at Florida is that the Gators didn’t hire a random person off the street. Beyond that, the next three to four years are anyone’s guess.

Jets apparently have Quinn as their top target. Schefter reporting Rex Ryan to Bills is a done deal.

So let's play the hypothetical game with all top targets...

Jets - Quinn.
Bears - Kubiak.
Bills - Ryan.
Falcons - McDaniels/Bowles/Austin
49ers - ???
Raiders - ???

And Marrone seems to have completely fallen off the radar... for now.

Jack Del Rio strong possibility for the Raiduhs

Indeed, as is Shannahan and some others. The 49ers have already conducted a bunch of interviews and I think it's unlikely that their candidate isn't from that list or one of the current playoff teams.
