You don't get known as a douche because of one story. It's just how you carry yourself and act. Here's one for you though....

My ex-girlfriend found a phone on campus. Turns out it was Jimmy's phone. He asks her (through his friends phone) to bring it to him in his dorm room (rather than go to her) and then takes the phone, says "Thanks" and shuts the door in her face. I feel like any other person would be a lot more grateful than that and wouldn't make someone bring the phone to them.

For the record I was joking about Golden Tate, his onfield antics annoy some people.

Yeah that does sound super douchey of Clausen. I've heard some other stories about him but that's probably the worst.

To be fair, if I were a known stud QB throughout the campus, I would also try to get the person to come to my domain just in case. But just say thanks and shut the door afterwards is Dbagish.

I was at Holy Cross my freshman year (Same freshman year as Clausen) and my friend from home was a sophomore at Notre Dame (Sorin College). Golden was in Sorin and he was very nice and a cool dude.

We all heard stories of Clausen, I saw him at Domerfest with the crown. I heard he tried to make a girl hook up with him and a few other guys in his room before she could leave that night. Never found out if true or not.

ok, its kinda a douchy story, but i was expecting more; especially considering that the 'dbag stories' about Clausen still persist to this day. At least something on par with Dikembe Motumbo standing up in a bar around Georgetown and announcing, "Who wants to sex Mutombo????" (even the motumbo story is more funny than douchy)

Given the scenario above, i dont see it as really being all on him; when he told your ex to bring the phone to him, your ex-girl should have been like, "Dude, this is your phone, if you want it back, you can pick it up at this spot(wherever)"

...and of course, it goes without saying that I would have went thru his phone and read all his texts and emails, but hey.....lol

It's just one story. There are like a dozen stories +. You can ask anyone that went to ND when he was there and I promise you 90% or more would say he's a douche.

Ironically, Brady Quinn once walked into a party and said something similar to Mutombo.

I feel like any "nice" person would just bring the phone if asked. The fact that he asked makes him the douche. Don't really see how her actually going mitigates that.

He's throwing some good balls today. Quite a lot of velocity, too.

Has had to deal with more than a fair share of drops from his receivers, though.

Yeah he's playing pretty well. Jeffrey's heard footsteps a couple times today and let him down though.

Wilson and Bennett have had a few key drops as well. Jimmy has looked pretty good. Throwing the ball really well. Imagine if Brandon Marshall was out there as another weapon for Clausen.

Pretty sad the linemen sat around and did nothing while Clausen had to go after the guy who gave him a cheap shot himself.

He looked great. 23-39 with 7 drops is pretty sweet for his first start in years. For anyone who didn't watch, his INT came on a desperation 4th and 10 with less then 2:00 left, one play after Jeffrey dropped a sure 1st down.

Also, this was awesome. Best way to earn respect with the locker room and fan base:

Don't know why but my friends and I always refer to this scene in "Jarhead" with regards to Jimmy...He resembles Cheddar Bob so much....

Nice game. I hope he gets a look by the Jets and comes in and competes/wins v. Geno. If the Amari rumors pan out....Cooper, Decker, Harvin, Amaro... some targets there..

Jets wouldn't be a bad landing spot. Either way, I think this performance bought JC a couple years in the league. Hell, he'd be starting on the Cardinals right now...

So many busts for the Irish out of Cali but jimmy was not one of them.
still tough as nails with a killer instinct. Good for him.

Agreed. Golden was on the nose when he talked about Jimmy. He got screwed over by poor personnel, poor coaching and just overall poor morale in Carolina. Not even Peyton Manning was going to do well in that system.

If Jimmy plays like he did yesterday, I feel that we have enough to go on to move Cutler and let Jimmy compete for the starting gig next year.

Cutler is broken, he isn't going to be able to resurrect his career in Chicago. It's best for both him and the Bears to part ways.

The Lions? Playing dirty?

I've been a Lions fan all my life, but Raiolo is a douchebag. He should be suspended for the remainder of the year, including any play-off games.

As far as Jimmy goes, he needs a chance with a decent team. If the Bears' receivers could catch the d**n football, Jimmy would have led them to a voctory.

The helmet to helmet hit on Jimmy should've ended in an ejection. Unbelievably obvious.

JC played great yesterday. It's already been mentioned about his INT. WRs didn't help him out at all either. Plus I think the tackle playing in place of Long was making his first start (I could be wrong). Bottom line, Clausen played well enough for the Bears to win the game but they blew it anyways. They're just not a good team. With the amount of weapons they have on offense (even w/o Marshall) they still only put up 14 points. That team needs an overhaul starting with the GM and coaching staff. Everyone's job is up for grabs, imo.

Maybe I'm bias being an ND fan, but I don't recall too many QBs given up on after being a high draft pick like Clausen has. He got thrown to the wolves for a shitty team that was riddled w/ injuries to the OL and a malcontent WR that hated him from day one. It's amazing how quickly QBs are deemed "busts" despite the many obstacles.

Yes, I am with you guys.

When Clausen left in 2009, my friend wondered, kind of off the cuff, if we didn't just see two of the greatest players in ND history (Clausen and Tate) who would never be recognized as such because they played for such shitty teams. That always stuck with me. Clausen was as good a college QB as I can remember, and I always thought he would be a good pro. I don't think that is ND bias, either; I never thought Brady Quinn would be a good pro because he was never a tremendously accurate passer, and I was right about him. Hopefully I'll turn out to be right about Clausen too.

I agree. That '09 season was truly a shame. The offense was crazy. I don't have the results of the games that year, but I'm pretty sure ND never suffered a blow out. There was just zero defense to stem the tide. Hell, they were even on play away from taking SCum to OT. If Kamara doesn't slip on his route, who knows? It was all downhill after the initial Shamrock Series game vs Wazzou.

Ya, that was a crazy year. I think 10/12 games were decided by 8 points or less. I'm surprised Weis flamed out as hard as he did. His offenses at Florida and KU were just pathetic.
