No, I want Cornell at OSU. I'd love for them to be stuck with him,

You're that certain he'll be a bust? He seemed like a legitimate player with weight issues. Is he a headcase? I haven't picked that up from his recruitment. Just curious why there is so much hate towards Cornell.

I don't think he's a five star or #1 player but he'd be a damn good SDE for us, at least from the tape I've seen of him. Maybe I missed something in his recruitment?

I thought before he committed to Ohio State it was either them or ND?! Where did Iowa come into play and why? They are irrelevant. Did ND turn their backs completely on Hilliard?

Just guessing, but it's highly unlikely we'd turn our backs on a #1 player at a position.

I wouldn't be surprised if ND tried to get back in on this fast. Like Wimbush-fast.

They are probably already making calls behind the scenes.

Word on Bucknuts is he isn't to thrilled with the Baker Flip

I just went over there and this is per Wiltfong. The family isn't too happy with Baker coming back into the picture. Pretty shocked by this to be honest. I wouldn't think they'd be concerned about competition but hey if you make a football first decision then competition and playing time is a concern.

I think that depends on whether OSU made certain assertions to the Hilliards.

Browsed over to Eleven Warriors, and they are convinced that it's just a ploy by Wiltfong/247 to get hits.

I would be shocked if the Hilliards are worried about Baker as competition... both can play on the field together, no?

I've followed Wiltfong for a couple of years and he isn't a guy thats going to do that, IMO. Also, the bucknuts staff is also agreeing that this is something of concern.

OSU is pitching Baker at SAM, Hilliard at WILL, and Connor at MIKE.

Isn't Raeckwon, or whatever his name is from last year's class, a Mike too? If so, it's a legit concren if it's as you mentioned since Raeckwon is only 1 year ahead of Hilldawg.

I bet there's nothing to see here, but gotta love recruiting.

That's what I don't get, though. Why is Hilliard concerned about the Baker flip? They aren't going to be playing the same position, are they?

The only thing I can think of is that Urban and Co. told Hilliard that they weren't working on any other LB's, just to assure him that there would be no roadblocks at all, and yet now they've got Baker. Still doesn't make sense to me though.

I don't have any answers other than what Wiltfong is saying. I agree it doesn't make much since but its recruiting and he's 17-18 years old so probably a lot of things don't make since, lol. I just hope that OSU has to fight for their lives to hang onto this kid.

Assuming we secure Coney's verbal today, it would be tough to justify using one of our very few spaces left on Hilliard when we have much more pressing needs at DB, S and RB.

But man, it would be delicious to see Kelly eat Meyer's lunch yet again. Bucknuts would asplode.

Then over sign or say no thanks to a 5th year. You cant just be turning down talent like this and hope to compete with the Alabamas of the world.

Ah, the age-old debate ...

Now inevitably someone will come back with, "but NO WAY can you say no thanks to a proven 5th year player like Matthias Farley or Joe Schmidt or Ben Councell or Conor Hanratty for a complete unknown who, while athletic, may transfer within a semester or get hurt or otherwise never pan out!!! and NO WAY can you oversign and maybe end up forced to shadily push guys out like SEC schools or sanctioned USC!!!"

Then 500 posts' worth of head-butting ensues.

Hate to break it to ya, but it's going to be impossible to get even with the Alabamas of the world. For starters, their backyard is the south and they've got a lot more pull with the recruits there than we do. Second, our admissions department is the suck. Third, we impose harsher punishments and rules in comparison to NCAA guidelines. Basically, we shoot ourselves in the foot and it's amazing we still get awesome kids to come here in the first place.
