Even though he is a Buckeye he is probably the only Buckeye I will ever root for. Just seems like an awesome kid

Hemholdt from Rivals thinks Iowa has a chance to flip. He visited recently and Urban didn't sign off on the visit.

I would love to see a flip to Iowa. I doubt Ohio State and Urban liar would still want that underachiever Jashon Cornell. He would prob flip to Minnesota where he could be the big man on campus. I will be very surprised if he does sign with Ohio State and turns out to be good. ( Jashon Cornell )

Here is the excerpt from the rivals freebie
https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1692884

There are a couple of Midwest defensive linemen with whom Iowa sits in very good position, but the player I am going to discuss first is Rivals100 linebacker Justin Hilliard, who just came off an official visit to Iowa City this past weekend. Expectations before this visit were that the Ohio State commit was getting a free trip to go visit his brother, Iowa freshman running back C.J. Hilliard, and there was probably some truth to that. However, the satisfaction that C.J. has with being a Hawkeye has his younger brother's attention.

It sounds like Ohio State did not exactly sign-off on this official visit for Hilliard, and the Buckeyes are still recruiting Rivals100 linebacker Jerome Baker and have a strong shot to flip him from Florida. Baker is a WILL linebacker and Ohio State is bringing Hilliard in for that same position. They would certainly love to have both, so I'm not saying they would choose one over the other, but it is one more dynamic in this recruitment that is worth watching and I see the door still open a crack for Iowa to come in and steal Hilliard.

If the reported reasons for Hillard choosing OSU over ND are accurate, it would be very strange for him to end up at Iowa.

Social scene, women, "football first", etc.

That's incredibly surprising, considering his background. Him being from a catholic school should have increased our chances. I really had hoped he understood how much better of a school ND is compared to O$U. I'm disappointed in him for taking flash over substance. ND may not have an electric night scene (but seriously, Columbus isn't that big either), but it sets you up for the rest of your life, which includes after football. If he chose Iowa over O$U, then at least family would factor in, but to hear the reasons he chose O$U over ND is really disappointing, especially for the guy I thought he was. I like to party as much as the next guy, but there's no denying the great opportunities a ND education can open up for you. There is a party scene at pretty much every school, and especially at ND. It also stinks, because ND may not put football first, but they do football better than O$U. That much is clear.

OSU has something like 45-50K students. Much bigger party scene than ND.

Wasn't it reported that he had been in a very structured environment and wanted to get away from that?

Uhhhh, what? That much is clear to who? I hate OSU but whose last 2 decades would you rather have, football wise - ND's or OSU's. I mean, dang Sean, even for you that is irrational talk.

Wut?

No offense man, but that is one of the more ridiculous things I have read. I dont think that you will find someone that dislikes the osu program as much as this guy, but like NDinLA said....I would take their last 10-15 years over what ND has suffered through. You have to understand a few things as well. ND and OSU take on different recruiting styles. OSU's staff is a lot more aggressive on the phones and with contact "not in person". Urban hand wrote a letter to the younger sister of a kid 2 classes ago that ND and OSU were duking it out over. Not saying ND doesnt recruit the family, coaches, people around the recruit, but OSU beats ND hands down in covering every base. OSU lets their players sell the program while kids are on campus, while ND lets the university sell itself.

I think we all would have liked Hilliard to be Irish, but to say you are disappointed in him for making a decision is a little harsh. There are hundreds of recruits that ND recruits each year and they get just over 20 of them a year. The fact of it is that Hilliard has better relationships at Osu with the staff and players vs Notre Dame's staff/players.

I agree with you that ND should win their fair share of elite kids from Catholic high schools and they need to win those. ND got Jaylon Smith, who on paper seemed like an osu lock but they won that one. ND isnt going to win every battle and I would sure as hell take NDs class over osu's class top to bottom.

Why would he be offended by this, lol?

I knew a guy who said that if you began a sentence with "With all due respect....", you could say whatever you wanted after it....

Btw, I sort of took Sean's comment, at least the "ND does football right" part, as meaning that ND views football as important but as a measured part of the college football athlete's collegiate experience, as well as providing more principled moral structure for the experience. I agree with that, as I suspect most of us do.

It would be spectacular if Hilliard flipped to Iowa and then Cornell followed his buddy there too.
