Seems to me like its becoming more and more true that NOBODY gets a "big name" to leave a good thing and take a risk, even at the best programs (see Texas, USC, Florida, Michigan) unless the timing is perfect. I would give Stoops to Florida about a 5% chance.

It will be very interesting to see who Florida gets.

My current guess would be Mullin, but even he might not want the job (they all seem to get cold feet and prefer to stay in a good spot--no matter how short lived it turns out to be).

I wonder if Ruffin McNeil from ECU gets snatched up?

if UF can't land Mullen then they are truly hopeless. It's always a feast or a famine with them, if they land Mullen i bet they win the SEC next year lol.
If I was Florida, I would pay the money and get Chad Morris. My only concern is his only Head coach experience is 16 years in Texas high schools. He has great relationships with recruits in Florida and Georgia (and could kill it in Texas), could get that offense going, and would only really need to find a suitable DC, which, arguably they may already have in Durkin.

They will hire someone with FBS HC credentials. After Muschamp no way they go asst. route again. As to Ruffin McNeil absolutely no chance he gets job.

Greg Mattison will be free.

IDK what FBS HC will be available. IrishLax has posted a brilliant take on the tiers of coaching and rarely do top tier coaches move laterally. I cannot remember where it was posted or when but it was an excellent POV.

Anyway it basically boiled down to lower tier coaches moving up or hiring assistants. I like him at some point to get his shot. FLorida makes the most sense because of everything in place. He was turned down by Texas Tech for KK.

All ND as far as his commitment this week goes. The long term outcome I still think is being evaluated.

I have pause for concern with this recruit as well. Actually, the safe choice for Coney would be Miami. It's close to home, there's comfort in the classroom, and there is clear opportunity for early playing time. As an athlete, he's ready. But the question remains, is he Notre Dame ready?

The dumpster fire in Florida HAS to payoff for ND on this kid. C'mon already, the writing is on the wall.

Miami gives me equal pause as well because he'll be a take no matter what for them. A lot of people believe he can't verbal to UF right now if he wanted to so ND is the clear choice for this weeks decision. However, what happens when December rolls around and the idea of leaving for ND becomes real. Does he take an OV to Miami?

Golden's days are getting numbered at Miami. Unless -'Nafrio (doesn't deserve the 'D' in his name) gets gone than Golden may be gone himself.

what makes you think this? i would say he's solid at ECU.

For one, he'd make the entire value of his current contract by the time he coached his first SEC game.

It's one thing to say Saban doesn't care about $7M vs. $10M after he's already been paid $25M. It anohter things to say you turn down a riase from $400K to 2.4M!!!

Heard Pat Dooley on local radio show. He's been covering Florida for as long as I remember and he said no way Jeremy Foley will hire an asst. coach. Must have HC experience. Names he mentioned as possibilities were Mike Gundy, Hugh Freeze, Dan Mullen, Rich Rodriquez. If Charlie Strong had waited one more year it would have been his job.

I don't doubt that a bit. I am saying they should at least consider Morris. The coaches available are small in number.

Rich rod? Wow impressive turnaround from scUM if happens.

A lot of folks out here that don't know much about his stay at Michigan (Pac 12 or bust types) think very highly of the guy. To his credit he's beat Oregon twice in 2 seasons. Thats actually quite the feat considering how good they've been. Only other team that can say that recently is Stanford and obviously we know the success of their program recently.

RichRod would be an incredible hire. One of the original architects of the run-first spread. His offense with SEC talent would be more dangerous than Meyer's was. It would make recruiting Florida much harder for us, though.

Sorry Lucky, should have used italics. Seems the coaching speculations would be better fit in the Coaches Hot Seat thread.

Wish he would commit tomorrow. We'd get a new commit and I'd get the new Primus album.
