:)

Seriously this is a great situation to be at LB. Hilliard would have been great, but I'll take Barajas, Bilal, and Coney 11 times out of 10.

Wonder how they have a preexisting relationship cause that's required for a player to communicate with a recruit, right?

Either way, NBD cause I think the NCAA never really cared about this one, but it is a rule.

I don't believe that applies here. I think the preexisting relationship rule only applies to alumni/boosters. If this was the case, we couldn't have players host prospects during visits, right?

I think this would only apply to current players if they tried to provide some sort of benefit to the recruit (like paid for the recruit's ice cream cone).

Considering Coney asked him to send him his number "again", I doubt this was their first interaction regardless of the rule.

Yes, but the preexisting relationship means that the relationship was before the recruit ever became a "prospective student-athlete". Which probably means since they were first ever contacted by a college to play a sport or since they started high school in which case there is probably no chance that these two knew each other before then.

I think you are thinking of publicizing visits, maybe? During Jaylon's recruitment, Eifert couldn't tweet about how excited he was that Jaylon was visiting. He could definitely tweet at Jaylon to DM his number. Contact between players and recruits is fine.

I'm just a film evaluator.

You could be right, idk the rule. Even if it is a violation, idk that anyone cares about this one. And it very well maybe a non issue and only pertain to visits like you said.

Should be a top 5 LB haul. I haven't looked at each teams LB's or expected LB's but I can't imagine 5 teams having better hauls than that. Knock on wood.

Interesting. I could be wrong, but I thought those rules were just for boosters or people recruiting on behalf of an institution so player-to-prospect communication wasn't as limited.

I believe that too, see my post before my response to you:

I was just simply saying that I don't believe that Morgan and Coney could have possibly had a preexisting relationship before Coney was considered a PSA. If that rule DID apply (which I don't believe it does) it could not be said that the two had a preexisting relationship (like you may have been led to believe by Coney's "again").

Sorry for causing confusion and for arguing for arguments sake. :)

I'm 99% sure there is no concern for a pre-existing relationship. Coney has visited ND twice, so he and Morgan have met one another, thus Morgan is able to communicate with Coney whenever (I think?).

THERE ISN'T A VIOLATION W/ THIS...PLEASE LET THE MADNESS STOP!!!!

"There are no rules prohibiting that communication, as long as the student-athletes are not posting recruiting messages," says the NCAA.

No problem if a college athlete tweets a birthday wish to his buddy, the recruit. But when the message involves football, interpretations get murky.

eifert's was COMPLETELY different

Eifert, violated 13.10.5, which prohibits a school from publicizing the campus visit of a recruit.

I think Koon was the only one thinking there might be a violation, and even then, he didn't even care and doubted the NCAA did either. I thought this was a pretty calm discussion on NCAA rules, not madness.
