I guess it's important to point out also that while you do get "LA Fans" that just root for local teams, they are the minority out here, for one reason or another it's very common to have sports fans out here just root for teams from all over the country.

He is only 6'0"? That is disappointing.

Cornell was also disappointing in the DL reps from The Opening.

If I am going to root for a recruit and feel bad if we lost him, I at least want him to be the bad ass that was advertised!

Cmon Bogs, your telling me that because Hilliard measured in at 6'0 he's no longer a bad ass? That sounds a little ridiculous. There's ample amount of data points to turn to that say this kid is one of the best LB's in the country. If he wasn't such a bad ass the staff wouldn't have pulled out all the stops. They did and thats all that we need to know about how good this kid really is. We'll be fine but that seems a little odd that you'd say that.

Sorry I didn't use the facetious color. Will go back and spray my original post! Thanks for the pointer!

Now there is a color for sarcasm? I thought it was italics. I am so confused...

I hereby state, to alleviate everyone's confusion, that sarcasm and facetiousness are two different things :

sarcasm n. noun

1.A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
2.A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

facetious adj. adjective

1.Playfully jocular; humorous.
2. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
3. amusing; humorous.
4. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential

So the difference between the two is mean spiritedness versus playful jocularity. On a athletic fan site full of athletic supporters, there is room for both. Sometimes you want to dig it in, and others there is room for joc(k)ularity. Get it?

When I am being silly, I want people to know it. As opposed to when I am barking like a junkyard dog.

Speaking of bullshit though : if you watch the media line, they cover their own bodies with piles of b.s. A recruit comes up less than advertised; what do they do? Come up with some generic fluff to cover the gaffe! That was what led to my original facetious statement. I saw JH listed as high as six-three, and if what I heard from The Opening is correct, six-even was generous. I am 5'11". When someone six-even approaches from a distance, I can't tell if they are taller until we are right next to each other. Someone six-two, I can tell is taller from some distance. Hard to confuse that difference.

Remember, I have long been an advocate that statistics don't the ball player make. I have gone crazy when we missed offering a player on any statistical deficit other than speed (and quickness).

To me it is just a positive hit on the hypocrisy meter, and worthy of a jocular note!

So, what I think I hear you saying is that if he wanted to flip to ND, you wouldn't automatically say no, despite being undersized.
Oh crap, do I use a color or font here?

You are a really funny guy.

No sarcasm or anything!

What I was saying is I would take him in a heartbeat, and know that it was because Bob Diaco was no longer on the coaching staff, because if he were JH wouldn't have gotten an offer!

He did offer him though. This is awkward....

You are not seeing how the circle doesn't connect? This is why Justin has to be listed at six-two (on one hand), and why so many fans are irate about us blowing players like Crawford out of our collective Irish asses, year after year (on the other hand).

If we need to take the insanity of the whole thing slowly, I can do that. Start by reading a classic, Catch 22. Pretty good book. Pretty clear example. Will get you thinking so you can see the bullshit from a distance, and you don't have to get close and smell it.

Fun fact of the day : people that work in facilities that require a lot of cleanup after involuntary bowel movements, can't as a rule get that smell out of their noses or heads, even after they leave the facility. This helps them desensitize that noxious smell.

Second fun fact of the day : olfactory sensors in the nose are triggered by small bits of the substance being trapped in the sensors. This is transmitted by nerves and interpreted by the brain. Next time you smell bad gas, or worse, remember you smell it because it is up your nose!

Well I think his brother goes there so probably just using it as a free trip.

But if we want to go with conspiracy theories maybe Urban has soured on him and told him to look elsewhere.

I am continuously shocked at how nonplussed I am when things like this happen. Go ahead Hilliard. As long as OSU doesn't get you.

OSU is not in a position to be passing up ANY elite defensive talent, let alone one of Hilliard's caliber. Then again, with UM's head being as far up his ass as it is, who knows...

Since Hilliard announced first, I assumed that Cornell was just tagging along to pOSU since that was where his buddy was going.

But in this article back in early September, Cornell makes it sound that Cornell was the one pushing Hilliard to pOSU
Scout.com - College and High School Football, Basketball, Recruiting, NFL, and MLB Front Page

It was no surprise that Cornell chose to join Hilliard in Columbus. The two have been friends since meeting on a trip to Iowa as sophomores and repeatedly dropped hints about playing together after reconnecting at the Nike Football Training Camp event in Columbus on June 1.

What might surprise some Buckeye fans, though, is that Cornell was the half of the duo who was firmer in his convictions. As Hilliard agonized over his tough decision, Cornell made sure that Ohio State remained his choice.

“I think toward the end I was the one pushing him towards Ohio State,” Cornell told BuckeyeSports.com. “He was having thoughts of Notre Dame, and I gave him a little bump towards Ohio State that final week.”

Nothing like listening to your overweight, lazy friend who's suggesting you ditch an elite education for a state school, lol.
