NC does have a secret weapon.....so don't take your eyes off the ball.

Now that you mention it, I do see the football in that picture...

Love this kid and all he did for Charlotte Catholic... but I'm sorry to say he is going to meet a stonewall named Jaylon Smith this weekend...

No chance anyone has a link to the UNC v Va Tech game eh?

I'd like to see what these guys look like.

Thanks, man.

I'm on graveyard and a little armchair scouting would really do me right!

You're a fine gentleman!

So far, while watching the Clemson game, the only standout I can see is Hood. Damnit.

However, they do look fast and strong... just a complete mess. No execution.

I think Hood only had about 3 touches for 3 yards or so yards against VT.

Definition of a trap game. No way ND players aren't looking ahead to Tallahassee at least a little bit. We all are.

UNC was TERRIBLE in the early season last year before turning it around. Probably the best skill position talent on offense of any team we've faced... which is weird to say.

Their defense is so bad though. Oh my gosh are they bad. If we don't score at least 45 then we screwed up royally. And if we score 45... I don't see how they keep it close.

Why does everything have to turn into a "trap game"? The idea that next week doesn't matter if they don't take care of business this week should not be anything new to them. I feel like we as a fan base make excuses for ourselves early in the week should we come out and lose on the weekend. Its a game like all the other. UNC's record may suck, but they have talent across the board. If this team does not recognize that, then perhaps we are overstating how good we are.

UNC is a train wreck as far as execution. They have a smattering of talented players but this is a very bad matchup for the Heels. ND should be able to score a lot of points and UNC will likely struggle to score many at all. Let's just hope the Irish keep the focus on the game they are playing and avoid looking ahead to FSU. this could get ugly for UNC. ND 42-UNC 6.

Looking forward to seeing that D shut Hood down. We all make decisions, for better or for worse, but we have to learn the consequences of that decision.

Day and Smith will show him a few of those consequences firsthand. Hard

I was reading a North Carolina forum, the fans that post there have zero confidence in this game and a majority of them are predicting blowouts.

I think this team has proven twice this year that they are taking this schedule game by game. They played well against Rice (game before Michigan) and they played pretty well on the road against Syracuse (game before Stanford). I have all the confidence in the world that BK will have the team ready to roll against NC.

I'm open to correction on this, but IIRC, Hood always wanted (and probably still wants) to be at ND. His parents, girlfriend, and Fedora railroaded him into staying home.

I feel bad for him (and for us) that it played out this way. But I'm not wishing an injury (or a serious defensive beating) upon him. It's not his fault that his parents pushed a terrible decision on him.

Agree, I think this team has its head on straight.

I'm just glad we're playing them this year. They are so young, and Hood will be a bull in a year or two.

This is where I'm at as well. Wish he could have ended up here...where he really wanted to be. Would have worked out better for us and him, in my opinion.

I wish him well and hope he tears it up at UNC the next few years. Just not this weekend.

I hear what you are putting down Whiskey but fact is, it was his decision and now he is the enemy come Saturday. I never wish for injury but a serious defensive beating to NC's potentially biggest offensive gun would be a good thing for ND.

I dont have a lot of sympathy for Hood. If he wasnt man enough to make the decision for himself and his future, then that is on him for not being able to get the nipple out of his mouth. I think that all of us who worked 2-3 jobs to pay for college when we went can definitely understand about taking responsibility and making things happen for yourself. He wasnt strong enough period. That weakness will be punished come Saturday.

Come on now... he has large family, who is not in the economic situation to travel to Indiana to see him play regularly. He wanted to stay close and be around them. He grew up a huge Carolina fan. He loved the idea of playing for ND, just wasn't in the cards.

I think it is really unfair to call the guy "weak" because he didn't go to ND. Maybe he did "take responsibility and make things happen for himself." Maybe going to UNC was the responsible decision, in whatever circumstances he is in. Nobody on this board knows him and his family situation well enough to say for sure.

If what you are saying is that you consider him an opposing player, nothing more, and have no sympathy for him, I have no problem with that.

But personally attacking him for weakness, calling him irresponsible ... I think that crosses the line.

Right, this.

The important thing this week is to again be injury free, and hope that Syracuse can push FSU. They don't have a bye until after our game, so we want them to be exhausted.

He was a great student, and an eagle scout. To question his character for going to UNC is a bit much. He loved ND, but he made a decision for more than just himself.

Everyone has to find their own way...

To the game and UNC,... the defense has been SO BAD this year, I'm still worried about the special teams play and the fact that they looked this bad at the start last year then turned it on to become one of the better teams in the country by year's end makes me wonder if they flip a switch this year also...

Contain the return game and protect the ball and ND should handle them.

Im with you. Hopefully this doesnt turn out to be a Lynch scenario for him.

Either way, as of Saturday he is an enemy. Him having a bad day Saturday is a good day for ND. Im all for good days for ND.
