I'm not aware of their schedule, who had they played before Stanford? And I, like wooly do expect them to hold us lower than our average, but winner of this game will still be in the 20s.

Do you have more confidence in us getting in the 20s or them?

I agree. But this makes it vital that Golson and the O take care of the ball and does not give a questionable Stanford O a short field (or worse a pick-6/fumble return).

Will we see a more conservative BK with the play calling?

This. Turnovers are critical in every game but this game is super important. If we take care of football we should have solid field position when we don't score giving them long fields.

I also didn't see this mentioned but does anyone think Everett was "pushing" a little last night since George was the?

I can see a young man wanting to do really well in front of someone that probably means a lot to you.

I think Stanford on the road on back to back weeks is going to hurt them

I hope BK doesn't go into a playcalling shell just because we're playing Stanford. I hope we continue to just take what the opposing team gives us. If that means a more conservative approach so be it but I don't want to see us go all conservative just because we get psyched out and think "oh lord it's the #1 pass defense in the nation...whatever shall we do?" We're a more talented team than Stanford top to bottom and we're more balanced. I think our coaching staff is superior and we're just as physical as Stanford. We're also going to be at home. I hope we act like it and don't let the moment get too big.

Stanford has many red zone issues, but I don't why but I feel like ND will fail to take advantage of it. ND has a habit recently of playing down to their competition at times.

Stanford's Defense is very legit, and we need our running game going if we want to actually get points on the board.

Hadn't thought of that and I think you may be on to something, but I also think BK was trying some new looks offensively especially on the pick6. It seemed at times he wasn't in his comfort zone and I think It had to do with preparation for Stanford and new wrinkles in the O.

They have shutout opp. 2 times but look at their opponent. Army lost yesterday against Yale and If I remember It's the 1st since the mid 80's for an Ivy league school to win against any FBS. Don't get me wrong Stanford has some fire on the d side of the ball, but I think we might be OK...

What gives me hope and confidence is that TR led ND had a chance to win twice at Stanford down 27-21 in the 4th quarter. Plus, the Defense scheme change should help as well.

Would love I see KVR shadowing Montgomery all game.

if he hasn't been practicing with the team for over a month, I don't see him covering their best player yet... unless he is just that good

Yeah I don't know if this is the game to bring in the rusty. Get them back in practice if cleared.

Watching Stanford...
1. It's a horrible matchup for us, because I'm not sure how we move the ball.
2. Stanford looks like they'd be the best team in the country IF they didn't mentally implode so frequently. It's really insane how many mistakes they made against USC/Washington.
3. Will they make the same number of mental mistakes against us? Their skill position players on offense aren't scary and I don't think their OL has been as good as advertised.
4. Their defense last year was as good (or better?) than this one when you look at personnel. We scored 20 points and had a chance to win that game... on the road. I refuse to believe that we can't win this game, even if on paper this is a nightmare of a matchup.
5. I expect Vegas to install Stanford as 3 to 6 point favorites.

Early line- Stanford -1

FWIw, Washington has been scoring a ton of points, Hawaii game not included, where their QB was suspended.

E. Wash., Ill., Georgia State.? Huh? Looks like a Yale team should try to score more too against Army

BK had a super conservative game plan in the MSU game last year. Could see something similar, but that was with a less dynamic QB of course.

Isn't it typical to get -3 at home to start? Is this going to end up a pickem?

Yeah so it'd be Stanford +3, but it's Stanford -1, which means Vegas thinks Stanford is four points better than Notre Dame.

I think they're more than four points better than Notre Dame when both play their A game. Being that consistency is the name of the game, this game is a clear toss up.

I watched the majority of the Washington game. In reality, Washington was never in that game. They could not string a long drive together. Their points came off a fumble taken for a touchdown. Every time they got the crowd back in the game, their offense would get stuffed. Army runs a triple option. We are familiar with issues in stopping the triple option. I don't know. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what we think...ha.

On a separate note, do you bring the Frozen 5 back into practice Monday? If nothing else, get them into individual drills and get them back to some sort of game speed?

I'd have them in team meetings and attending practice, even if they're not in pads.

I don't think so. If both teams play a perfect game, I think Notre dame is a touch down better.

It could be a toss up, but the way I see it, Notre Dame playing good but making mistakes is 4-0 versus Stanford playing good, but making mistakes, is 3-1. They lost to USC, who lost to BC, and got scared by Washington. Even the Irish playing sloppy hasn't had to sweat this season, except that brief and admittedly terrible time when they were down against Purdue. Playing ND at home, Stanford should be plenty nervous playing this Irish team.

Only one person will be able to thwart the Irish attack. But does he have the grades?

The answer is no, sorry Chuck. Irish victory, 26-16.

Not exactly. Vegas thinks the PUBLIC thinks that Stanford is four points better than Notre Dame. The point spread is not Vegas's prediction of the result, it's the book makers trying to ensure equal betting on both sides.

Not so much this year. Granted we didn't play great the last two games, but we definitely didn't play down to our competition like we have in the past. I truly think we have turned the corner on that.

Looking that way. Two "bad" games, two wins by 16 points. Let that sink in, folks.
