Coaches Poll Top 25 (ND #7)

Watch ND this year. See if we don't beat some schools so bad we destroy their season. I believe we did this with Michigan. From pointing out how to beat them to other teams, to physically hurting their qb and wr, ND totally fucked Michigan this year, so we can't or won't be able to count for a lot of help from our opponents on strength of schedule.

No I am not saying we are going to annihilate everyone. But with BVG's genius, we are going to show future opponents just how to beat our victims, and with sixty guys playing, nineteen freshmen, with more waiting in the wings, we are going to take an incredible physical toll on most teams we play.

LSU is #18!!? WTF!! WHere is T-Town to chime in on this? Can you really justify that LSU lost to unranked Miss St who hasn't done shit, should be #18??

FUcking ridiculous!

LSU dropped 10 slots NOT the customary 7. They lost by 5 points to an undefeated team.

A week ago Southern Cal was embarassed by BC.

Stanford lost to Southern Cal yet Stanford is ranked higher the MSSt. Sagarin has MSSt with a slightly tougher SOS to date than Stanford.

Why are Baylor and Marshall ranked at all? Their opponents are abysmal.

How about ASU with wins over FCS Weber St, Bob Davie, and Colorado?

LSU's defense looked like they were going to die in the middle of the 3rd Q this weekend. Then look at all the other scores across the SEC. The defenses in that conference are not good. May have the measurables but I don't see the discipline and conditioning necessary to be considered elite.

OK, Georgia held winless Troy scoreless and TAMU gave up 6 points to winless SMU. Bravo.

Bama over Florida 42-21
MSU over LSU 34-29
SoCar over Vandy 48-34 (31 total points scored in 4Q)
Indiana scored 31 to beat Mizzou's 27

So I think South Carolina should drop out completely. The only thing they have proven in 4 games is that their defense sucks. Instead, ECU and Georgia are all propped up as losing to a #13 team while TAMU is given top 10 status for beating a mediocre South Carolina team. So the Gamecocks play equally mediocre Mizzou and Kentucky the next two weeks which they could easily go 0-2. But the mission is already accomplished since Georgia and TAMU will not lose spots if SoCar is exposed as being garbage.

So do you think Oregon should be ranked in the top five since their defense is giving up 445 yards per game? The fact that they needed an horrendous noncall PI to win against a nonranked opponent. OU gave up big chunks of yards to WVU. Should they be ranked that high? Should ND be ranked #8 given the opponents they have played thus far?

There is a reason the SEC does so well against other Power Five opponents. Take your emotions out of analyzing games and see them for what their worth. The SEC makes other conferences look horrible due to one main reason... they own the lines on both sides of the ball. When the upper echelon SEC teams play each other, those lines tend to offset each other. Throw in ridiculous talent on the offensive side of the ball and that's why you see some high scoring SEC games. Those same lines against other Power Five teams usually dominate them. It's really not hard to figure out... if you take emotions and bias out of the equation.

Over and under on number of seconds it takes someone to point out the best place to build lines is through over-recruiting?

Notre Dame hasn't proven to be a top 10 team yet, they've proven they can win the games they should (so far). Beat Syracuse, Stanford and North Carolina and we'll have some more conversations.

Alabama, Ole Miss, TAMU all look legit and I wouldn't be excited about playing them but I'm not excited about FSU or Stanford or USC because they all have the potential to play really good football.

My top 5, which always includes guesswork - TA&M, Oklahoma, Oregon, FSU, Bama

Some of that is historical precedence (history of winning and history of recruiting top talent) and some of it is performance thus far.

That's REALLY hypocritical. Notre Dame's "signature win" so far is Michigan at home. Michigan has been "exposed as being garbage."

Best place to build lines is at some JUCO when they are 18-20. Let somebody else clutter up there roster with the developing boys while you play the 21-22 year old grown men. Keep for a year or two and reload with another fully developed man.

Check the rosters for Auburn and KSU.

Recall Terrence Cody?

Mount Cody WAS the interior line for Bama as a Jr. and Sr. He spent the 2 prior years at Gulf Coast Community (jr) College.

To be fair, MSU completely dominated that game and lost focus over the last few minutes. In a way, it reminded me of ND at FSU in 2002 where FSU scored two late scores when the game was out of reach to make it appear closer.

No come on TTT, ND does preferred walk-ons for linebackers. Everyone knows that HH out shoots, recruits, and toots all the SEC schools, already!

You should be please with HH's efforts. He is a solid coach. BVG needs to join the party on the other side of the ball. He made up a lot of ground last year in a short time. Can't ever have too many interior linemen.

Of course, if we don't run the ball this week against Orange, we could discuss the over/under on calls for HH to be fired!

Hey, Drew Sharp was nice enough to put us in his Top 25 this week. We're still below 2-1 USC, and Mississippi State jumped us from unranked to 11th...interesting given the fact Sharp gave us no vote of confidence after the Purdue game, and yet Mississippi state struggled with UAB. At least Marshall is no longer on his list...although how they got there to begin with is a mystery.

#8 in AP poll still
Still at #23 on Drew Sharp's ballot behind 3-2 South Carolina, 4-1 Washington, 3-1 USC (#17), and 3-1 Arizona State that was just demolished by UCLA by almost 40 points.

Quick look: Amway Coaches Poll college football top 25

1) FSU
2) Alabama
3) Oklahoma
4) Oregon
5) Auburn
6) Ohio State
7) UCLA
8) Michigan State
9) South Carolina
10) Baylor
11) Stanford
12) Georgia
13) LSU
14) Wisconsin
15) USC
16) Clemson
17) Notre Dame
18) Arizona State
19) Ole Miss
20) Texas A&M
21) Kansas State
22) Nebraska
23) North Carolina
24) Texas
25) Washington

Seems about right at this point. The lack of running game would make coaches think this team's defense would eventually get worn down. The offense cant throw their way downfield every game. Every team but Baylor usc and Oregon are a bit more physical.

The Amway Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.

If we are going to keep updating the same thread, can we change the name so that it doesn't say ND is #17?
