I think it's mostly the stupid academic investigation and the specter of this idiot administration vacating wins. It's also a large part having so many question marks and completely unproven commodities that could be anywhere from great to awful.

I think I won't be excited until we're either demolishing Rice and Golson has 4 first half TDs to go along with 2 sacks from Jaylon, or we're past Michigan 2-0. But my switch has not flipped yet... I even found myself accidentally making plans for this Saturday and completely not appreciating there'd be a game on.

I was kinda "meh" before the season also. No Diaco, new OC also. No Nix and Tuitt. Well I was wrong. Its only been 2 games but VanGorder>Diaco. Love how he is on the field showing emotion. His hair isn't as sexy but anyway. Golson is above and beyond what I thought he would be. The run game has just been so-so, but with a mobile QB we can take what they give us and make them pay. I don't know if it's the turf, but damn this team looks quick! If DD and KVR come back, look out!

Just before anyone really blows it, yesterday Michigan loaded the box as much as any team could and sent strong packages up the middle, because they knew ND would exploit the weakness they showed against AppState. AND ND RUSHED 31 times!

Same here, and I'll know after the Texas game all I will need to know-9-3 for me at this point and a Big Bowl but no playoff. Very very difficult schedule. My ideal scenario is undefeated going into Stanford and let the chips fall after that game. If they go 11-1 they're in maybe even 10-2 if they beat Clemson and southern cal. I think this year nobody will end up undefeated before the play off. Just my opinion but college football to me is now an even playing field. One thing is certain this is NOW a good football program that is loaded.

I am worried about Texas who I think is better than people realize... they have a very good defense and will have a new offense that we have no film on. They could be a surprise team this year, whereas I think most of the other teams we play are pretty much known quantities.

So I'd say I'm 80% amped, 20% nervous.

True. I think Texas could still be about a year away from being very good, but they're not going to roll over for this one at all. We certainly won't either, and I think we're in a better position from a roster standpoint and that will win the day. Yeah, next year could be rough, especially if we're replacing a bunch of players on defense. At Texas, probably a night game again, and they'll probably be better at QB by then.

I'm moderately hyped for Notre Dame football but absurdly hyped for college football generally. I was screaming and fist-pumping for North Dakota State at Montana, so I'm all in. Unfortunately, the Saturday slate is pretty shitty and the Alabama game overlaps with Notre Dame, but the Ohio State game on Monday will be a little bonus treat.
