In defense of "poaching" (you make it sound so dirty), 18 year olds are constantly changing their minds and it's "coaching malpractice" not to keep feelers out to, and maintain relationships with, players you think will help and fit in your program.
In fact, not only is there nothing wrong with it (the whining of babies like this clown and Bieliemic at Arkansas, aside), it's a good thing because it gets a notoriously fickle "demographic" (teenage boys) to consider their options more broadly and hopefully (with proper adult guidance) make a better choice.
The only problem I have (and this is where people like Urban Meyer are like the benthic layer of the Gulf of Mexico) is when coaches mislead or, yes, lie, about competing programs. I doubt Kelly did that, and if he did, that's what this guy should complain about. That's fair game.
But this is ridiculous -- and add to it, as Lax said, this guy is taking visits. If Rhoads wasn't such a phony, he'd have a rule that says once you commit verbally you can't visit elsewhere. His position is "you can visit but I'll act like the plain schoolgirl at the prom and bitch at the competition." Small-time, indeed.
