I'm freaking pumped! Had to be at work at 5am after working overtime last night because some douche decided to carry a gun illegally (kids these days are just dumbasses). THANK GOD I get off at 2..perfect timing to get home and turn on the game for kickoff! I imagine anybody with an ND decal on their car (few and far between) gets a pass from me today....Bama & Auburn, not so much tards!

On "D" - Looking to see how Day, Jones, Smith, Onawula (sp), and their aggressiveness.

i purchased HD just so i could see how nice the new turf looks during the game...pretty pumped but do feel there are a lot of ?'s w/ the investigation and playing so many fresh/soph that i feel 50/50 on....i think i am just tempering my expectations because i drink the kool aid often and then when we play i realize i've been drinking waaaaay too much of it...so this year, just sipping it

Never mind, Gattaca's response was better than mine.

I'm pretty even keel this morning. Not sure what to expect this year, but 2012 keeps coming to mind for me. Not that we'll go undefeated, but that this season may exceed expectations.

GO IRISH!

I'm extremely excited now. The "experts" predicted us to struggle and go 7-5 or 8-4 at best. The last time they predicted us to suck that bad we played in the NC

GO IRISH!!!11!!

Not really. People predict that we go 7-5 or 8-4 most seasons.

What sucks to me is years ago I circled 2014 as the season BC the schedule looked more workable than any in recent years, then the ACC move happened and boom, murder schedule... I really think with an average schedule most experts would be picking ten wins

The ACC games actually look manageable this year (FSU is the obvious exception). The grind of the overall schedule may be too much to overcome. UNC is a game we should win, but we're playing them the week after we play a physical Stanford team. Louisville is another we should win but maybe we overlook them b/c USC is the following week. We're more talented than ASU but we're going to the east coast to play Navy and then flying west to take on ASU.

I am more amped than ever. If there was any season about which to not be excited, it was last season with the most boring offense and the most boring defense imaginable. We will win a lot of games, and all of them will be exciting. 10-2 followed by win in a good bowl game. Let's get it started today.

The ACC move did make '14 more daunting but ...

When was the last time ND played an average schedule? I'm not talking the #25 Toughest which is unusual. 64th Toughest is average.

And I'm not talking Conference Championships and Bowls ... just SCHEDULED opponents.

ND hasn't scheduled an Alma, Hillsdale, or St Viator caliber school since the 30's. ND's never played a IAA or FCS school since that category originated.

Ara never had to face the routine schedules of the last 30 years nor was he limited to only 85 scholarships. Holtz ONLY had to deal with the 85/25 rule in the last few years of his ND career ... when his record slipped.

With an "average" schedule all the coaches since Holtz would have won 2-3 more games a season.

Aaron, I know you know all of this but most fans, including our own, don't. I'd be thrilled if ND's usual schedule dropped to #25 or so instead of so many runs in the top 10 or tougher schedules.

Meanwhile let's play 'em one at a time.

GO IRISH!

BEAT THE OWLS!

I go to NDSU in Fargo. I've heard at ND they give loud fans a hard time. Haven't made it down to South Bend for a game yet.... Is that really the case?

Up here noise is encouraged.

Go Irish!

We're going to test that theory. Bring the noise, I promise to be louder.

I'm handing our noise cones to the 10 ppl who promise to be the loudest fans in the stadium (or show their boobs).

Does the University not like the idea of creating a home field advantage or an intimidating atmosphere? I can't imagine Mr. Kelly being happy with fans being told to keep quiet on a pivotal 3rd down on defense.

No one wants to come play in the FargoDome at the FCS level because of the crowd noise. No reason a school like Notre Dame should not be one of the most intimidating venues in the country to play in.
