Then we arrive at the same conclusion lol. Can't blitz Gardner, Funchess a head taller than everyone in ND secondary. No one is sold on the UM run game yet. If their O line is even average ND is in trouble

Stick some shoulder pads and helmets at the bottom of his numbers when he crosses the middle. Do it early and often. He'll play smaller.

I wasn't impressed with Greens running ability. When he got caught up in traffic it didn't take much to bring him down.

Why do think people who are 6'5"ish are uncoverable? If that were the case, Scott Chandler and Levine Toilolo would be all pros.

Notre Dame has 3 CBs who play regularly who are 5'11"+... two of which I'm pretty darn sure are so quick that someone like Funchess doesn't have a prayer of getting separation. Will he win some jump balls? Sure. And he's going to be a serious red zone threat.

But if he all-world then he would've been more effective the last couple years when Michigan had no receivers besides Gallon and he was matched up on LBs and safeties. He wasn't... he was good, but he wasn't Calvin Johnson.

Was anyone unimpressed by Gardner watching those highlights? I saw him throwing lots of short passes to wide open dudes with almost no velocity to the throws. That's like asking our DB's to pick the ball off.

Devin Funchess had 1 good game! His first good game at Michigan since I can remember.
They did get a running game going yesterday. First time in a while. I do believe they will run the ball on us. If we don't get some god damn pressure on Gardner he will hit guys open all day. Even when Russell does matchup on Funchess I am not sure if he will get separation.
We need to pin our ears back and get some pressure this Saturday. Also Farley just shouldn't play, he's way to much of a liability. I would also like to see Nlyes Morgan get some reps. Because I believe Michigan will pound the ball and Joe Schmidit won't be able to take that beating all game, every snap. Just some of my early take away's. This Michigan game has got me jacked up!

....so you're saying he'll be back???

In two games against ND, Funchess has 5 catches for 30 yards. Fun fact.

Now that I've said this, five days from now, he'll be streaking down the sideline unmolested for an 80 yard TD against blown coverage.

Based on past games, this will be a 400 yard performance for Gardner. Hoping we don't see any of that stupid voodoo bullshit we seem to get every year against them.

It is the most frustrating part of the year making s****y Michigan QBs look good.

This nonsense has ruined Saturday nights for me. It's like they summon the demons of Yost's old timey racism and bigotry and turn it into an unholy streak of luck. That, or B1G refs. Anyone know who's going to be reffing this one up?

That is an important question. I will never get over the' 09 game and that disgrace of an officiating crew.

I still haven't seen a pic or video clip where Golden Tate actually steps out of bounds on the TD that was called back.

"Michigan has struggled in big-time road games under Brady Hoke — 1-11 in his three years against strong road/neutral opponents. That includes the 2012 loss at Notre Dame, when the Wolverines turned the ball over six times and still only lost, 13-6."

I will not make a prediction on the games score.

But I will say this : This game will play different than any recent, past ND vs. UM game.

The two reasons are, BVG's defense. Nuck Fusmeyer, he makes it easier, because BVG understands what he will do. Last year apparently, Borges didn't have Gardner reading the defense! Kind of like when the Michigan running back was separated from the ball on the goal line, and it bounced into Denard's hands. He was able to walk in to the endzone; that is something beyond luck, and it is gone!

This year BVG will be able to dial it up, and Gardner who is looking for a middle linebacker to determine where the pressure is coming from will set himself the wrong protections and audibles, the whole game long!

As OMM said, "ND has a defensive backfield unlike AppState, who had defensive backs so small and slow that the UM receivers could have finger sandwiches, crumpets, and tea under a sun umbrella, and still outrun the highlanders coverage.

Our offense will make a HUGE difference. I know that the UM defense is GREAT. All talking heads, Michigan fans, and the criminally insane, like Desmond Howard, think so.

But we have three receivers that can top them. We can exploit Peppers and his inexperience, and our offensive line, and ground game is going to be better than anyone expects.

I have heard many wonder if we have held back anything for Michigan, or not. Here is my question. Who has seen H-Back, any Tyler Luatua, heavy sets. or Golson and Zaire on the field at the same time?

Good stuff Bogs. I agree that our defense will surprise some people in this game (hoping that Jaylon is shadowing Gardner). I also think that there is a strong possibility that our Special Teams might have a say in how this turns out as well. We know it will be close...it always is. I hope that the fans go freaking nuts and keep it going for four quarters.

According to Sagarin's current ratings ND would be a 10.5 favorite.

N.B. Sagarin doesn't take into account injured players nor ND's Honor Code Panel.

Have they added fire extinguishers next to the kneelers in case there's another fire?

No, they saved money. They have an ND Usher with an orange NBC glove standing watch. He's to raise his arm to kill any action while simultaneously yelling at the flames, "DOWN IN FRONT!"

That could come in handy. "Unleash the blue-hair (males with poor bladder control and whose urethras are not yet reduced to nano dimension). Gentlemen ... fire at will!"

Well shit.

Wasn't this the same game Eric Olsen got uppercut by a michigan player? I'm not doing well with names tonight.

Yeah, that was '09

Golden Tate got mugged all game by the Michigan DBs, Kyle Rudolph had a 70+ yard reception nullified by a BS holding call on Sam Young, etc. etc.

This was also the same year Indiana got hosed in AA. Late 4th quarter drive, IU receiver and UM DB had dual possession, which by rule goes to the offense. Ref gave the INT to Michigan, game over. Absolute horseshit call.
