UM's defense looks awesome, their offense is literally Funchess. And God damn it he's a man out there. Will be the best MICHIGAN player on the field next week, but he seems to be all they have besides the Gardner scramble.

They broke a couple of big runs at end of half to skew the stats, but for the most part, App St. was holding their own against UM's run, and App st. is really bad. 4-8 last year in the FCS.

Their OL looks as bad as advertised.

Not really too concerned about this game honestly. I'd be kinda surprised if Michigan doesn't overwhelm this squad by the start of the fourth quarter.

Funchess is a ballplayer. So's Gardner. i do worry a bit about our ability to blow up their plays. Beyond Jaylon, we seem to lack the caliber of playmaker we need on defense right now. But I do think we'll score a bunch of points, so it's not like we need to stop them on every possession or force five turnovers a la 2012 in order to win.

App State is not the team they were five years ago. They were significantly smaller and less athletic. They were not only smaller and less athletic than their former selves and Michigan, they were much less so than Rice.

They had no front seven to exploit Michigan's offensive line woes. They had no one to get pressure on Gardner, nor did they have anyone to run with the Princess. I mean Funchess. I can't wait until they play a team with a defender like Jaylon Smith, let alone Cody Riggs, Luke, and dare I say? Russell.

Oh. And for one year I feel pretty good about our defense matching up against UM's offense. I think their line is built of cardboard and shiit, and I think VanGorder has the tools to exploit that!
