Not the ideal scenario for Notre Dame or Sykes, but good to see both sides work it out with Indiana so this kid doesnt lose a year of eligibility.

As for the debate on Student Athletes having different requirements to get in. I think they should have different requirements and ND does do a good job of holding their Student Athletes to a higher academic bar than other schools.

Notre Dame is a business first and foremost. They are in the business to make money. There is a reason why Notre Dame has 8 billion dollars in its endowment fund. They have figured out how to make high academic expectations and high athletic expectations work.

Look at all the National Title appearances in all sports in the last 3-4 years by all sports at Notre Dame. Skylar Diggins wasnt getting into Notre Dame if she didnt play basketball. Luke Harangody wouldnt have got in either. I mean you have understand that athletics bring in millions every year, and that is huge for any division one school. Sure, Football/Basketball help support the other sports like Fencing/Rowing/etc. But it allows kids to get a great education on scholarship in the lesser known sports.

You need student athletes on a campus to add excitement for the rest of the students. Sporting events are something that builds bonds and leads to the college experience.

You need JimmyMacs on campus to continue the academic prestige of the university and to make Notre Dame unique.

The success that student athletes room with non student athletes shows Notre Dame has a phenomenal grasp of what they are doing. Sure, there are some students that dont get in over a student athlete, but that student athlete benefits Notre Dame financially. And in the big picture, thats what it is all about like it or not.

I do not know why he is leaving and i do not care but Indiana is switching to a 34 defense this year so maybe he really was seeking a school that is a better fit for him.

I don't know who taught you sentence structure (or when you were taught for that matter), but I was taught a comma is used before a conjunction, not a semicolon.

Indiana has had an very explosive offense for the past couple years, but their defense always blows up. IU's biggest issue is defensive backs, they gave up big pass play after big pass play. If IU could muster a decent defense, they would actually be pretty dangerous this year... in the B1G.

Nothing that I feel comfortable posting bc Sykes hasnt said anything. If/When he speaks about it, then I will. But he has chosen to remain silent to this point.

The schools can say what they need to, and I understand that. But, as I have always been, I am not going to run out and state certain situations whether good or bad if that specific player hasnt said anything. There are something for whatever reason that arent supposed to get out unless that kid wants it out.

As for Sykes, I know he loves Notre Dame and still loves Notre Dame. He was happy for his friend Miles Boykin to commit, and I truly believe he is leaving with good terms. Notre Dame releasing his LOI speaks volumes and I honesly feel he will have a great career at Indiana.

I can assure you he didnt leave because he was scared of the depth chart or couldnt play at the level Notre Dame plays at. The scheme at Indiana probably fits him a lot better than the Notre Dame scheme, so it may be a blessing in disguise for him on the football side of it. Great kid, great personality, highly motivated kid, and I would take 5 Nile Sykes' each class.

Neither of those. Come on dude. Guy is all-ND, wanted the offer bad, knew the same depth chart and DC when he signed. Had nothing but the right attitude in his short stint on campus and then had the rug pulled out from under him.
