Put that with Eichenberg, Kraemer and one of the big 4 QBs we are after.....Oh my.

That would be an incredible start! We have had some great classes over the years, but a nice 10-11 win season this year could really bring em in. The great thing is that these are all Midwest kids too so it's not really a stretch to say that this could be a reality.

Haha - Hey man, if you follow my posts you know I'm not a recruiting optimist. Very much a realist. But every single one of those guys we are in an early top 2 or leading.

With 2 being OL and we haven't been losing those battles much recently

Wow 2016 is off to an unreal start, how many of these guys are looking to decide early though?

I am really not sure, but usually the OL decide early. I would imagine sometime next summer for most of them depending on how much they blow up over their JR seasons.

We will have to make up a little ground. I think we came into today 3rd out of the big Midwest 3. but like you said, we have owned Fort Wayne. I'm hoping we land this stud IN WR.

Having Jaylon Smith and Drue Tranquill in his ear all the time will help as well

And we have plenty of time to make up that ground.

Something must be in the water up in Ft. Wayne. Seems like they have a top prospect or two every year now.

Second biggest city in the state. Some good youth football programs have been in place for a while now. Should have a couple D1 kids every year.

They've came a long way for sure. I lived there during my college days and rarely did you hear about D1 football talent...granted that was over ten years ago now. These days it's the norm to have a stud, two or three each year from Ft. Wayne.

I, for one, have been critical of Indiana high school football. But these last couple of years, the state has improved overall, and on some high-end recruits. I hope this isn't just a trend and continues perennially. Would be good for ND, no doubt.

South Bend is slowly getting to be that way as well. South Bend hasn't had major D1 talent since 2012 with David Perkins (OSU) and Gehrig Dieter (SMU), but they do produce quite a bit of MAC level players. Hopefully the productivity continues to grow.

I believe a significant reason for the increase in Div 1 talent coming out of Fort Wayne is due to AWP. Those guys are doing a tremendous job of training and developing the talent that is there.

Michael Ledo has done a tremendous job of helping Ft. Wayne in this regards.....and it's not just football. Kids are training for all sports at AWP, and it's not just relegated to footbal. Baseball, track and field, volleybal, softball, and basketball players are all training at AWP. Ft. Wayne would produce D1 talent every year, but we're starting to churn out big time prospects. Bishop Luers has also produced Anthony Spencer, who's with the Dallas Cowboys, I believe, and Ft. Wayne South has produced Bernard Pollard.

We're still playing catch up to other areas, howeever, we're closing the gap, and rather quickly at that......

It's actually been going on for a while now. Heard a national radio guy last year talking about HS football. He was discussing Indiana and mentioned the MIC as being one of the toughest conferences in the country. ND used to have a death grip on the best HS talent in Indiana going back to Ara. After Lou left the rest of the HC's didn't put a priority on Indiana kids. BK does and knows the benefits. It's a lot easier to land Mr. Football from Indiana then it is from Florida, Cali, etc..

Mack earns Notre Dame offer - South Bend Tribune: Recruiting

“It's a big connection because I look up to Jaylon a lot,” Mack said. “He gives me really good feedback on a lot of things. He helps me understand how to look into colleges for more details. I ask him questions about what he did when he was going through the same process. If I have a question about Notre Dame or anything like that, he helps me a lot.”

Looks like we need to beat down Sparty again just to remind them to stay out of our back yard.
