This was just... I don't even have words:
I want to study broadcasting communications in college. Oregon offers a great degree in that area. But it's not just that degree, it's the support they give their players and how they help you succeed. The academic center was amazing and so was the academic support staff. The fact they make that such a priority really stuck out to me.

Whenever a kid talks up some bullshit major at a lesser school it's just a huge red flag against our chances. Let's see if he shows up in June.

Only chance we keep him is if he makes it to the II for the week as planned if you ask me

Damn so even when a father cries over his son's commitment it doesn't mean much. WTF. This is classic, he'll flips right as almost all of the QB's dominoes fall and we're left holding the bag.

This is what I'm most worried about. It could kill some momentum with WRs too

He enjoyed his visit to Oregon, saying he is still committed to ND however he is considering Oregon. He says he has to go home and talk to his parents and that he doesn't think he will take anymore trips(not sure if he meant to Oregon or in general), he also stated he loved the communications degree from Oregon and their overall presentation.

Looking like a flip is coming in my opinion

Before I was sad. Now I'm fucking mad. Oregon scrapes the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Football ROI, and degrees don't come much squishier than Communications. If our staff can't counter this snake oil bullshit, I'm not sure what to say.

When a commit leaves the door that open after a visit to another school, that's a flip more often than not IMO.

If he doesn't show up at II it will tell us he's a Duck. If he comes for those 5 days no way he's not a ND committ.

f'ing Mariotta came back too so Barnett is going to see him throw and run all over the place this year while our team won't look as flashy.

What's Oregon's depth chart at QB look like? Wonder if they are pitching that he will start day 1 while our staff is telling him it's always an open competition...

I'm glad he is thinking about life after football but last time I checked there were 10x as many ND alums in prominent broadcasting roles than Oregon. Joey Harrington is the only one I can even think of.

Absolutely. And ND offers 6 times the degree value that Oregon does.

Blake is a smart kid. It sounds like UO made up ground on us by selling him a bill of goods about the relative academic quality of the school. We can easily counter that.

Wow. Fucking nut shots, that is the essence of ND recruiting. One of the most stable QB recruits completely vaporizes in less than 24 hrs, it's unbelievable.

Hoge should repaint his truck and golf cart and leave the class as well. That would help finish my interest in this bullshit.

Yeah, this is exactly the bullshit that has me thinking he's gone. If he actually truly believed that crap then he'll believe anything and ND has no chance.

Probably doesn't help that his "mentor" Justin Hopkins is probably reassuring him on all the positives of Oregon (did you catch the drop-in of "long tenured coaching staff" in his article?) etc. etc.

The only saving grace is that I do truly think some (all?) of his parents are squarely in ND's corner.

Also...

Stop. Recruiting. California.

Still committed to ND, treating like a business decision. Wanted to visit Oregon to be sure of his decision. Appreciates ND staff for their support but needs to be sure of decision. He's also considering Oregon, liked the trip and said they have a lot to offer. Wants to study broadcast communications, Oregon offers a "great degree" in that field. Academic center was amazing as was the support staff. Didn't push for a commitment. Says he needs to go home and talk to family and he doesn't think he's taking any other visits.

What's the damage here. 200k?300k? Let me get the chequebook out here.

Won't he also be with a couple of our commits this weekend?

Edit: yep, 5 Star Challenge with Barajas and Tillery.

What's super awesome about this is that now we've also missed out on a myriad of other hyper-talented QBs as Blake was committed for 6+ months.

Brady White, etc. all could've been great fits. I don't even know who you scramble for at this point.

Tyler James is high on the list of people I would pay to kick in the nuts. Probably even higher than Hopkins. He's a Michigan fan who brings literally nothing to the table as far as coverage or analytical insight. And he openly trolled ND fans when Michigan won the Sugar Bowl.

Which makes me wonder... why do we have such terrible recruitniks? You'd think a fan base as large, wealthy and influential as ours would merit better.

I know he isn't Blake but I am super glad we got Kizer and he can sit and learn for 2 years. He does have a very high ceiling as well.

I would probably call that Wisconsin kid as a contingency plan. I liked his film personally. Can't remember his name, but he grew up an Irish fan.

Edit: Morgan

You can't quit the fight just yet. There is still time to get back on good graces here.

Exactly, it's one of those situations where you see and hear what you want to. Not what's actually reality. What drives me nuts is the timing.

James Morgan. Not mobile, but a decent pocket passer.

I mean... gosh... we passed on so many guys with legit interest in ND.
