This is crazy. When Franklin was hired, I mused on how he could legitimately pull #1 style classes at PSU... but I honestly didn't see him going into Indiana/Minnesota and being as competitive as he is. I saw him doing it with mostly Mid-Atlantic/Pennsylvania talent. He's just out-working people right now and selling a narrative that makes kids think he won titles in the SEC when he could never even beat teams with winning records.

It's also important to note that their "early" class ranking is inflated by quantity kind of like how Michigan's usually was under Hoke early in his tenure. Lots of really good 4 prospects, no 5 difference makers... so when it gets to NSD and have added top prospects to the class then PSU will be much lower. He doesn't have a single Top 100 guy right now. We have two with Tillery sitting at #105.

What's genius is that he's trying to use his "#1 class" to intrigue other true top prospects to hop on board (i.e. Cornell). It's so smart and their direct mail pieces are all full of quotes from 247, etc. about how awesome their class is. We'll see how it plays out.

This. They have zero depth at all positions. I'm predicting a .500 season.

They were one game above .500 last season with a freshman QB leading the way... I don't see them regressing at all as long as their wide receivers and tight ends have five fingers on each hand.

Franklin might not be the coach that Bill O'Brien is, but I think their athletes having more experience (in particular Hackenberg) will help make up that gap.

The biggest thing I see with Franklin, is selling playing time right away, and he'll be able to do it the first couple of years, but, like with Hoke, if he cannot coach, it'll be readily apparent......

Don't think that was already posted. That's bad news, certainly a product of whatever information he gleaned this weekend. Did Cornell ever actually make it to campus?

You sure he changed it from ND to a mystery ball. I thought he had never put in a CB, and this is his first prediction. I could be wrong, but I just looked and don't see an original prediction of ND underneath the Crystal Ball, whereas some other predictions that have been changed have it.

I'm nearly certain Wiltfong put in one for ND last March or April. I remember him saying that we was considering flipping it to UM at one point in the summer/early fall

Wiltfong said he is close to changing his Crystal Ball to Michigan...

As fans we'd like to hear great news but this staff has done a great job of closing well. They play the long game vs. the short game that others play and overall it's worked out extremely well.

Steve Hare's updates are as generic as they come. Never anything breaking at all. Always seems like they never want to inconviniece the recruits and so updates are just vanilla and behind the other sites. Jake Brown is mediocre too.
