Who else is jacked up for tonight?

I do not have HBO, but I have access to HBOgo. Is there anyway I can stream it live on HBOgo or do I have to wait till after it's over to stream it?

HBOgo usually puts it up to be viewed about 15-30 minutes after the show starts on HBO.

I was gonna start this show, is it honestly worth it?

Yes. I was really skeptical at first but it's pretty awesome. Don't think I've met anyone who has seen the show and didn't love it.

GoT is a good show but I don't get the "best show on tv hype". It has nothing on Breaking Bad as far as story goes and large number of stories and character make it downright confusing at times. It's enjoyable, but not an immediate watch for me.

Well Breaking Bad is over, so it'd be competing with House of Cards, True Detective, Mad Men, etc. I think it's as good as any if those but I agree the pacing last season was a blur.

I was very late to the show, started watching in September, it helped to have someone give a little background and help keep a couple of characters straight, but honestly it is not that difficult. I think it is some of the best television ever made and I think history will show that the books and story will be read and studied and regarded as we do Tolkien, if not more so. The production, characters, and writing are IMO top of the food chain, the best I have seen.

Haven't seen nor read any of it, but the local library has the first two seasons on DVD and all of the books.

How much would you suggest reading the books first?

I would read the books first simply because it will be easier to keep the multitude of characters and story lines straight. With how complex and interconnected everything is, even when it initially seems isolated, it's an advantage to go at your own pace via the books. You really appreciate the intricacy that Martin created that way, and the twists and turns feel more "rewarding."

But if you love shock value above all else, start with the show.

Fastest hour of TV ever!

But def read the books first Koon. Even with each book being split into 10 episodes, or even now book three being 20 episodes (2 seasons) It still doesnt come close to the level of detail in the books. There is just so much love and history put into them.

I was pretty pumped how they used the White Book. I fistpumped when they mentioned the Kingswood Brotherhood and the Smiling Knight.

Would highly recommend it. At least try the first one out before watching.

Anybody familiar with the Jon Snow theory?

Yeah, there is a long discussion of it in the Spoilers Song of Ice and Fire thread.

I was skeptical at first but at this point I will be stunned if it doesn't turn out to be true.

Which one? Be careful of spoilers. If you've read the books you should head over to the Song of Ice and Fire thread

A non-reader probably wouldn't be too titillated by this theory anyways, considering they've probably never heard of the characters involved (besides Jon). I was sitting in the theater for Captain America 2 the other night and when they did the big Winter Soldier reveal, the non-comic readers were all "wait... what?"
