I don't recall him ever being suspended for any amount of time? So dismissal was first punishment??

I'm thinking The Turning Point might have some more information on this.

It's heart breaking, because I liked the kid as a player.

Me too. He has never really come out and thrown somebody under the bus before. What could he have done for BK to be so open about a dismissal as opposed to a "transfer"?

I'm not sure that announcing he's been dismissed is throwing someone under the bus. However, he's either been ignoring some rules after being warned repeatedly or he did something very egregious.

Strange the article mentions that Kelly didn't know if he was still a student.

Wow what could that mean? Skipping workouts and such? Or more serious insubordination?

Obviously the issue is that Kinlaw broke football program rules instead of university rules. If he had merely broken university rules (smoking weed, etc.) he would be suspended, allowed to transfer, something like that. But what football rules could he have broken to merit such a serious punishment? Hard to figure.

How hard is it not to get kicked off the f'ing football team? You would think not f'ing up would be easy but apparently, it isn't.

Really hoping this doesn't turn into an ugly story that ESPN runs for 3 weeks.

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING

I was trying to figure out what could get a player dismissed without suspensions. I thought about PED's, impermissible benefits, stealing from other players, constantly trying to start fights in the locker room, or contacting another program. Whatever is the real reasoning here, I hope it's not as serious as my mind wants to take it and that he can get himself together and recover from this setback.

Others I thought of: Arson, Kidnapping, Attempted Murder, Prostitution, Genocide, Conspiracy to Commit Espionage, Tax Evasion, Treason, Grand Larceny, Wire Fraud, etc.

Just want to point out that I have no evidence that Rashad committed any of these crimes.

Yes obviously those would be problems too. But BK said from a football standpoint, so I cannot think of too much that warrants immediate dismissal when there hasn't been any rumor of anything before on Kinlaw.

These kids bring more than just athleticism with them, and not always positive. I hope Rashad gets the help he needs to make better life choices. I was hoping great things for him. With the way Coach Kelly has run things at ND, it's fairly safe to assume his dismissal was a culmination of bad decisions/actions. It's not his style to one and done his players. Whenever administratively possible, he prefers them to learn from their mistakes under his helm.

So does dismissal mean an automatic revoking of his scholarship money? I am assuming that he can choose to remain a student if (a) his case hasn't be referred to Res Life (b) he's in good academic standing & (c) he pays his own way. I'm not saying this is how it will play out.

Was thinking if he is still enrolled at the school, if he could prove himself going ahead and rejoin the team.

Really great thought. It's difficult to say if that's likely or not given the absence of particulars of what he did. As of now, the rumors are pretty ugly, but rumors often are. I would imagine it's at the primary discretion of Coach Kelly. If Rashad is willing to disrespect the rules to the point of dismissal, he would need a major change of heart. Unfortunately, denial to save face is often the immediate recourse...

Kelly sounded like he had closed the door. Maybe there is a path to redemption out there, but I didn't have a whole lot of hope after the answers coach gave in the presser.

Yeah, if Kinlaw had any chance of being allowed back, I'd think Kelly would have said that he had a chance of being allowed back.

His twitter looks like it has Tupac flipping a double bird in the background, and is littered with inappropriate language.

*Dont really follow twitter, so not sure if that's the norm for players

No inside info at all, but the way BK said what he did...

Fuggedaboutit.

The kid f-ed up, no way Kelly would dismiss him like that if not.

Whatever. If he didn't take ND and her football seriously... see ya later.

That was my initial reaction too. But then I thought about it.

Exactly! And in the interview, at two points Kelly commented on it and the reply was clear "Kelly speak" for, "I went to the matt for this kid, and he didn't come through, that ship has sailed." Kelly made it clear (to me) in the interview, from his body language, that this was a issue that required decisive action and that separation was the only alternative.

I believe Kelly has worked with about everyone, and gone out of his way to give second chances, honoring a players need to be responsible for the consequence of his actions. But I got that this was big enough that it could affect the whole team, detrimentally, if not handled the way it was.

His twitter looks like it has Tupac flipping a double bird in the background, and is littered with inappropriate language.

I am thinking not so much!

Any news about where he will be landing to play CF, if anywhere ever again?

Was guessing Rutgers but haven't heard anything.

Is he, from ND, for good?
