ILB recruiting this cycle is going to be interesting for a couple reasons. We have 4 or 5 ILB's with 4 years of eligibility currently on the roster. How many do we bring in this cycle? We also have two local prospects deserving of offers. With Hilliard being one of the top guys on the overall board. I could see offering Kirkland and recruiting him and Hilliard over the summer and slow playing Barajas for awhile.

all of that sounds good to me, gotta keep the kids from indiana in indiana.

Definitely offer him if the kid does what you want. If he commits, then you get quality depth. If he doesn't, make sure that you fight tooth and nail for him for any other program. Make this state ND's land.

The #1 kid from Indiana is a take every year.

I very much agree with this statement.

I'm sure grades and transcripts are being looked over for several of these 15' kids. It's ND, where taking a foreign language class become imperative 3 days before signing day. Kidding, kind of.

I went to high school in Indiana and most schools in the state require you to take foreign language in order to obtain a degree if you are college prep. Most tech prep kids are the kids in this state that don't get the foreign language requirements. This has at least been my experience and understanding.

Oh I hear ya, it's not a jab about the requirement so much as it is a requirement issue that gets brought up late in the cycle. Feels kind of unrelenting at times how often it comes up. Side note, it amazes me how long it can take Stanford to inform kids of acceptance and how stoked they are when they find out they can get in. I do feel like ND does a lot of work throughout the process to not make it as much of a spectacle.

I know it was not a jab. Just wanted you to have the info.

On another point, I've seen this kid play in person and he is the real deal. Indiana has consistently improved over the last 15 years or so in regards to football prospects. It's good for ND. We should be locking up the #1 guy every year and having our pick from the rest when we need or want to.

Wiltfong said earlier there is not a guy in IN in 2015 that he thinks definetly should get an offer from ND. Kirkland hasn't shown much interest in ND and ND hasn't shown much interest in him last I heard

I've also noticed that he doesn't think that Kirkland is by far and away the best in IN. He gave some names today that were very comparable.

You have to recruit your state first, especially when there are so few good players to choose from.

Haven't watched his tape or anything so could be way off...but just find it really hard to believe any stud football player is coming out of Park Tudor HS. Didn't even know they played football.

Justin Brent played at Speedway and he's pretty good. Speedway is a 2A just like Park Tudor.

Speedway is a 2A school but nothing like Park Tudor.
Yeah I know, but in my defense Brent was Speedway's whole team and at least PT can recruit. It's not surprising the kid is at LC now. This kid is a legit player that's why he want's film with better competition.
