Unless you have 477 of them!

Let's see, you scrape the paint off of 477 cards, heat it up to separate the gold from the paint, then.............aw never mind too much hassle.

Yeah. 477 letters from Notre Dame would end up an heirloom in my family, gold or no gold.

Interesting. He doesn't seem like a high risk for a decommitment at all, so why the push to get him on campus?

I wonder if we're going to have a couple surprise visitors on those days and the staff wants some commits around for?

Probably just trying something a little new to firm up as many commits as possible.

Could be, but like I said, this guy's as low-flight risk as it comes as far as I know. We're by far his best offer, no one else is recruiting him (from what we know), so, I'm guessing, but I think there's more to it than sure-ing up his commitment.

I took it, assumed, that it was more to get current commits on campus while other recruits visit. Maybe it is a little of both.

I'm assuming it's to help recruit guys who may make visits on those dates. Sawyers sometime? Cage midweek? Getting the Chicago players to swing by on short notice and lend a hand in the recruiting will definitely help.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting in case I didn't make it clear.

And I don't know of anyone visiting those dates.

So me = cautiously excited.

Yeah, Elston trying to lock in Griffin for an OV tonight. Reports of a push for the Rutgers guy. And McKenzie is visiting 1/31.

Just saw his junior film for the first time, absolutely incredible the way he explodes through ball carriers, impressive burst and acceleration, he does not have great closing speed on pursuit though. Looks like a big body and hitter. I think he is a pure pass-rusher and Shembo esque player. Hill and Trumbetti are more dynamic, all-around players but i'm very impressed with Sykes.

He'll be playing inside linebacker for us, not OLB or DE.

Yeah i've heard that. I trust the staff of course but he looks like a north-south type of player who struggles a little bit and looks stiff when has to make plays sideline to sideline unlike Trumbetti or Hill. I think the film shows that he is clearly a pass rusher, but maybe is a great fit too at ILB, in Kelly and co. i trust!

Sykes Could Be Special

“He had a lot to learn. He still has a lot to learn, he has a long way to go. But he’s so athletic and he’s got great smarts, he’s got football smarts. He plays very good angles. He’s very natural up on his feet and if you bring him on the rush, he’s strong enough and quick enough to beat you on the edge. He’s strong enough inside that he can outquick in inside passing lane rushes to blow right through you. He was just a big playmaker for us. Every time we made big plays defensively, he was a part of it a lot of times. We were just able to use him in a lot of different ways. He’s very, very athletic, very fast, very strong and smart.”

"List 5 words that describe what kind of man you are.

“ 'Hard working, Intelligent, Kind, Responsible, Humble' ”

LOL. I don't like questions like this, because you can't answer them intelligently without sounding like you are boasting. But I love "humble" being in here.....lol "One of my greatest strengths is an overwhelming humility for which I am justly renowned."

They use to mean the opposite of a guy who talks all the time and expects things handed to him. They don't use it to mean anything in a deeper sense.

Just like girls calling themselves modest because they are wearing a skin tight bathing suite that covers their stomach. They're modest compared to a loose french woman or the spring-breakers at Daytona Beach.

Michael Scott: Why don’t I tell you what my greatest weaknesses are? I work too hard. I care too much. And sometimes I can be too invested in my job.
David Wallace: Okay. And your strengths?
Michael Scott: Well, my weaknesses are actually… strengths.
