I am bummed he won't be suiting up for the Irish, as I think he is a great prospect. We may also have to play against him. But as many have said its not a huge blow to the overall class with all the talent we have coming in. I wish him the best. Now let's fill the spot with a kid who is going to love playing for BVG.

Who cares? We've gained more than we lost. Not losing sleep over either of the departed. It happens. Its college football.

He's referring to the discussion IM8 and I had about decommits. I promised him that we would lose guys before signing day and he thought we wouldn't. I felt that way for no other reason other than it happens every.single.year.

I earned some nice vbucks that day.

Sucks with Yeargin. Kid is a fantastic football player.

maybe BVG saw something he didn't like, rubbed his stache, and asked him to move along. fear the stache.

Literally the least bothersome decommitment I have ever seen. We are stacked at OLB and the kid needed a ton of work to see the field.

Would have been nice to see if he could develop into a potential terror on the edge, but I can't remember ever being less concerned about a decommitment. Ever.

Less than half of the post are people who seem upset. I would say this have been received better than just about any decommitment in recent memory

i was thinking the same thing.....but then i remembered i had a few drinks....looked again same thing

All one can do is wish the kid well, and hope he's making the best decision for him and his family.

But no, I'm not mad or disappointed when a kid skips ND. It just opens that spot for someone else to respect such an opportunity wholeheartedly.

Not the end of the world.
But curious: Did he give any reason? Defensive coaching change? A long-held wish to attend Clemson? Florida finally come through with a real offer?

Loy got a really puzzling quote from him. Something about how it would be different if Alford was still his position coach and so was Bob Diaco.

The Diaco part I get ... but when the hell was Alford going to be his position coach?

My guess is that he meant that Alford was the guy on the staff who was drawing him to ND and, once he realized that Alford coached the other side of the ball and wasn't going to that big a part of his ND experience going forward, he decided to move on.

Ah well. I really liked that Yeargin had a background in the secondary ... a guy who has the size and build of a DE but also has some cover skills is a valuable commodity, or at least was in Diaco's scheme (and it sounds like Diaco leaving was a factor). But as others have said, not the worst decommit ever.

Alford recruits Florida, right? Maybe he was the lead guy on Yeargin and something got lost in translation with Loy. It happens. On the Diaco thing, he'd hinted at concerns about assistant coaching changes before. Makes some sense that that'd be in his head, at least. A justifiable reason to drop Notre Dame and go to Clemson, where he seems to be inclined lately.
Yeargin was a "nice to have" in my book, but hardly a guy worth losing sleep over.

Expected this, not particularly Yeargin...just in general. Hope he is the only one.

Yeargin is a clone of Rabasa. Too small to play DL, too slow to play LB.

Jmuns posted this in the Upshot thread ... thought it belongs over here too.

I hadn't thought of it that way ... but yeah. He runs a legit 4.9/5.0, timed at the Opening, very reliable, right? Not a fast dude. Yeah he may have good cover skills for a bigger guy, but not sure how much good that does you when you don't have the footspeed to go with it.

If he was projected more at DE, I'd be more upset. At CAT, I'm pretty sure we're fine.

yea usually a decommit is the end of the story in most cases, but has he been quoted saying he will no longer consider us.

either way i agree he will end up in clemson and i'm happy we know today and don't find out deontay greenberry style

I'll be that guy... I wouldn't.

Here's the reality, Mokeouah is a huge project, probably even more so than Yeargin. At least Yeargin had the remote possibility of playing another position and contribute to special teams. Shoot, Yeargin's freaky athleticism might have his upside at his position higher than Mokeouah at his.

Mokeouah could turn out to be a great player for us and I hope he does. But if Dickerson was still commited, then he wouldn't even have an offer.

Downplay this loss if you want, fellas. We lost a nice recruit today.

I'm in this boat, assuming we would have landed at least one of Sawyers or Cage. Yeargin was a safety in South Florida, at 6'3", 225. Think about that for a second.

I thought he played safety the year before he "bulked up" to 225 and was a DE from there on. If he was playing safety at University weighing 225, I'd be impressed, but I didn't think that was the case.

he was a nice recruit to have-of course, but we REALLY need D Lineman. BIG D Lineman.
did you watch the AA game in its entirety?
to me RYIII looked lost out there, seemed to be 5 yards late on every play,as well as looking REAL thin. much thinner than i expected TBQH. would have been a CAT here IMO, no way a DE.
of course one game does not an eval make, but i was quite disappointed with him physically and with his play after seeing that game.
like others have said: too slow to play in space and not big enough to mix it up along the lines. ive never been a big fan of BK philosphy of "big skill, etc" tweeners rather i like to recruit guys who are locked into their position from fall camp of frehsman year-and Big Pete aint no cat or a dog or any other type of domesticated animal. he's a D Lineman. A Big Ugly on the D line and thats just what we need, not "MOAR CATS" LOL
