Those two really are attached at the hip, if she is staying in state I would think it would be hard for him to leave

McKenzie has high interest in Florida | GatorCountry.com

Will Muschamp is one of the hardest working head coaches in college football when it comes to recruiting. Tuesday afternoon Muschamp stopped by to see receiver Isaiah McKenzie (5-8, 165, Plantation, FL American Heritage) who just came off of an official visit to Florida last weekend.

“Coach Muschamp,Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and Coach (Kurt) Roper came by the school,” McKenzie said. “It went great man. We was just talking mainly it was real laid back. Coach Muschamp and me we like to joke around with each other so we were just joking around today.”

When Muschamp visited McKenzie on Tuesday afternoon he wanted to talk with the receiver about his official visit to Gainesville last weekend.

“Coach Muschamp was talking to me about my official from last weekend,” McKenzie said. “I just told him that I had a really good time and he was asking me about what I liked and stuff. I told him that I liked that he didn’t pressure me to commit or anything like that.”

Although there is a numbers crunch, Muschamp told McKenzie that he’s okay with him taking his remaining two officials but he made it clear he wants him in Gainesville.

“I still plan to visit Ole Miss and Notre Dame,” McKenzie said. “Coach Muschamp told me that he understands that I want to take those visits and he respects that but he hopes that I choose Florida and that he has a spot for me.”

With two visits remaining for McKenzie he has a lot on his mind but he likes Florida a lot and also knows what factor will make his decision for him.

“I have very high interest in Florida,” McKenzie said. “I’m going to have a hard decision to make soon. At this point I have a lot of options to go out of state or stay in-state but I’m looking for the best fit for me and where I feel at home at whether that’s in-state or out of state. I felt at home at Florida this past weekend and the coaches and players were real welcoming to me but I still have to see whether other schools make me feel that way too.”

According to a poster on BGI he read that Muschamp tried to get him commit last night during his in home and he didn't. If true this would be a good sign.

“I have very high interest in Florida,” McKenzie said."

Not good, but with BK and Alford visiting, they could lower that interest and reinforce who stood by him during his trials and tribulations.

Photobucket has very low bandwidth restrictions. If a particular image is getting linked frequently (and you link to it every time you post, since it's in your signature), then Photobucket breaks the link.

Upload it to imgur.com instead, and try linking from there. Much more reliable.

Can you blame him? Muschamp is like the Dalai Lama. A zen garden even! Nothing seems to disturb his serene equanimity.

Let me ask you guys something: When these coaches from (let me call them) less academically-demanding schools visit these players with greater academic challenges, do they allude to how much easier the recruit will find it at their schools?

Example: Does Muschamp tell IM, "Son, I know you are looking at Notre Dame and they are a fine school, but their academic requirements are more time-consuming than ours are. You need to keep that in mind."

Or do they just assume the kid knows that academics are a joke for football players at their school.

Seriously, how do coaches undercut tougher academic schools during recruiting?

It definitely happens. Aaron Lynch, for instance, mentioned several times that many people told him he wouldn't be able to cut it academically at ND. It's probably a reasonable assumption some of those people were coaches negatively recruiting us.

Example: Does Muschamp tell IM, "Son, I know you are looking at Notre Dame and they are a fine school, but their academic requirements are more time-consuming than ours are. You need to keep that in mind."

Or do they just assume the kid knows that academics are a joke for football players at their school.

It's probably not an easy thing to do without offending the recruit. You're basically insulting their intelligence. And it can always backfire ("Oh yah? I'll show you, Muschump.")

It likely depends on the recruit and his family. If they're genuinely concerned about the kid's ability to survive in a challenging academic environment like ND's, then a negative recruiting campaign confirming those fears and playing up proximity to home, support, familiarity, etc. will often be effective.

Since we recruit nationally, we're very vulnerable to this.

I remember when Lynch was being recruited, it was openly discussed how other staffs told him he wouldn't cut it academically at ND...

Whisky, ACamp...thanks. Too bad that quality, demanding academics would ever be a negative.

And of course some freaking clown tweets at him "I take it the visit didn't go well."

Are you sure it was just some clown? That seems like a fair response based on what IM tweeted.

No it doesn't. Not a fair one. A moronic one. From some random ND fan.

Then I agree if it was a random ND fan. All I meant was that IM tweeting "people will screw you" or whatever would probably get a similar response from his friends, too.

Let's hope, if it was recruiting related at all, he was referring to Muschamp. Maybe BK cleared up some negative recruiting or something.

This is exactly what I was hoping. Given the sequence of events, maybe McKenzie got fed some BS yesterday and Kelly cleared it up.

i have a hard time believing that BK would have a bad in home visit with a recruit....only thing would be a possibility of what he's been told he needs to do in order to qualify.

idk just saying

One would think that is the case as it has been well established that he and our staff have had a longer relationship with him and some others are late to the party. Just seems that he wouldn't tweet that out after a visit on the same night after all the "love" we have shown him. Either way I am sure the meaning of the tweet will be revealed in short order. If not, we will surely know in Feb.......

Its a shame when kids with all the talent in the world waste a chance at success and bettering themselves.

Hopefully not about McKenzie
