The Seattle mayor will probably wager salmon or Washington apples. I'm guessing the Denver mayor will wager a TON of sticky green.

I would say the weather favors Seattle, simply because their offense revolves around pounding the rock all game, and Lynch's time in Buffalo adequately prepared him for receiving 30 carries in below 20 temps.

Sherman sucked when he was in College. Coaching can really do miracles, who ever thought he would lead the best defense in the NFL?

I truly hope that Peyton gets that second ring. I think he's an amazing person as well as an amazing quarterback. Should be a good game between two exceptional teams!

Bad weather helps the Seahawks. Refs call less penalties when the weather is bad, and the Seahawks already get away with a lot on D. I'm cheering for the Broncos, but if the weather is bad I think the Seahawks D can win.

Got this so much the past 24 hours from college buddies (went to school in Eagles territory--they don't have much to brag about), never gets old though.

The only sad thing with the Pats is that I really don't see us being much improved next year. Brady and the RBs will be the same. There aren't really any high profile receivers out there to get. Our D is average and again, I don't see us going after any big time free agents.

So sad to think that the Browns were begging people to trade a 1st or 2nd rounder for Josh Gordon in September and no one would bite on it then. Pats would have KILLED to have Gordon by the end of the year.

I am rooting for Denver but my initial thought was that this is a horrible matchup for the Broncos. I think of the 32 teams in the NFL Seattle may be the absolute worst matchup for the Broncos.

The two glimmers of hope I have for Denver are: 1- Denver's rush defense has been pretty good especially as of late 2 - As good as Seattle's defense is, (and they are by far the best defense in the NFL) Carroll's scheme is based on being simple and guys playing fast and aggressive it is not a deceptive defense by NFL standards in terms of disguising coverages and where the pressure is coming from. Conventional wisdom with Peyton Manning is if he knows what you are doing he beats you. So maybe Manning beat them with his mind because physically its advantage Seattle's defense.

Go Seattle. Personally I don't think Seattle (or San Fran for that matter) is a good match up for Peyton. Peyton had the luxury of playing two pretty soft defenses in the AFC playoffs and the only sure way of beating Manning is getting pressure on him. I think Seattle has the defense to get to Manning and make a long day for him.

I echo the sentiment that cold weather favors Seattle. Pistol Pete loves to pound the rock and you can do that in any weather.

This was my thought process as well. Although San Diego has a good defense although not on Seattle's level.

The only thing that I can say on Seattle's defense is that relatively simple and not very deceptive. Of course being simple allows Seattle to play very fast and aggressive. The only way Peyton Manning gets beats is when the defense is able to disguise what they are doing and keep Manning guessing, Seattle doesn't do that. Seattle just comes and comes hard plays basic coverages with skilled DBs that challenge every throw. With Manning though he has shown if he knows what you are doing he knows what to do to beat it.

So ...... on to important matters.

What's the menu for game night?

Following my past theme of foods representative of team locales I propose as a starter brews from Left Hand Brewery and. Actually they should be available throughout the evening.

Appetizers could be Rocky Mountain Oysters and Garlic Sauteed Morel Mushrooms. The first course seafood chowder and a horseradish lamb consomme.

The main course should be Smoked Coho Salmon roasted on a soaked cedar plank and whatever slab of beef cooked as you like.

Dessert is a toss-up. Maybe something as American as Apple Pie. A slice of cheddar cheese if you're an east coaster or a drizzle of balsamic vinegar if a chi-chi Denverite. Both should be served with natural vanilla bean ice cream on the side.

Then it's on to single malt or cognac ...

I will root for Golden Tate and the Seahawks. Big fan of Russell Wilson too. I won't be too upset if Peyton gets a much deserved ring though.

Whose bright idea was it to have the game in the Northeast? During the winter. Outside. I realize no one could have predicted Mister Snow Meister taking over the weather lately, but still, it's winter. Why isn't this game in Miami or SoCal?

Well, at least it's been a mild winter.

It's forecasted to be 40 degrees and calm for the Super Bowl, so it looks like its going to actually work out.

Amazing really... considering it will the first nice day in over a month.

If you want a reason to not root for Seattle.... Sneaky Pete is their coach.
