Saw this the other day and forgot to post it here:

Best of luck Andrew! Here's hoping he gets a chance to play at Miami OH

What a thoughtful young man. I have a feeling he'll do just fine in the next chapter of his life.

Yes its not often a scholarship player thanks the university for 4 years of free school and board, a classy gesture. I hope CM can help him have a great 5th year and not befall the same fate as Dayne did @ KU

How is Charley Molnar going to help him? He doesn't have a job right now.

Seriously...Godspeed Andrew!

Notre Dame football - QB Hendrix follows Martin to Miami - South Bend Tribune: Football

Notre Dame backup quarterback Andrew Hendrix will play his final season of college football at Miami (Ohio), the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Hendrix, who played at Moeller High in Cincinnati, will be reunited with former Irish offensive coordinator Chuck Martin, who left ND last month to become the head coach of the RedHawks.

The 6-foot-2, 226-pound Hendrix served as the backup to starter Tommy Rees last season, playing in eight games. Hendrix completed 2 of his 14 passes for 56 yards, and ran 16 times for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Hendrix will be eligible to play next season and has one season of eligibility remaining. He did not play in 2010 as a freshman at ND.

Good luck to Andrew! I always loved his upside but he never put it all together. 2 of his 14 passes completed this year....wow. Good luck to Andrew though and hopefully he does something wonderful in the medical field

If anyone is interested, I am a Senior at Miami University and would be more than willing to give updates on his play here next season. Chuck Martin has his work cut out for him....we've been terrible ever since Big Ben went on to the pros....

Zac Dysert didn't give you guys anything to cheer about?

2010 you guys won the MAC, too.

Fun Fact:
Female enrollment increased 37.5% the following year.

I'm a Miami alum, and still follow the team pretty closely. 2010 was a fluke, although Dysert was certainly good. After Big Ben left, his coach left for Indiana, and the talent level has dropped ever since. Martin is going to have to recruit more athletes to have a chance.

Could not agree more. Dysert was a hell of a QB, but the rest of the team was plain terrible last year.

I also attend a MAC school, CMU. I am very excited to watch the three transfers come to Mount Pleasant next year. I don't usually stay for the entire football game but I will be sure to stay for the game against Miami. Sure will be interesting to see if Hendrix and Co. are really THAT much better than your typical MAC player.

My sister went to CMU. I love your stadium there.

Also, we used to tease my sister that the CMU cheer was ...
{from a 1980's McDonalds commercial not found in the interwebs apparently}
We are are Chippewas
We're in luck
If it rains all week
Just pretend you're a duck
Quack-quack Waddle-Waddle

Make sure if/when you come to tailgate that it's for a big-time game such as Western Michigan, or a big time non-MAC school like Oklahoma State, next year. Tailgates get crazy before big time games. Last year when MSU was in town Mount Pleasant was absolutely crazy. Time of my life.

I doubt they will be that much better than MAC players. That's not a knock on these 3 guys, or the MAC really. I just feel like sometimes people get wrapped up in star level and forget that much of football is about dedication/motivation, execution, and scheme. That's why on any given Saturday a college team can knock off a powerhouse. It helps if you have a burner at WR that can outrun the coverage now and then, but overall I don't expect these guys to be head and shoulders better than the rest. I imagine that Welch will get a start if he's healthy, Hendrix may or may not end up starting, and Wood probably will get the start or significant playing time.

He may not, but he has a really good shot at it. Last year's starter graduates and it's a bunch of under classmen with little to no experience that he is competing with.

Yeah, that's certainly working in his favor. Hendrix doesn't have a wealth of experience either really, and he's had his share of struggles in that time period. I want to see him succeed, but he's going to have to really pick his game up this fall.

I'm hopeful Hendrix's familiarity with the offense will give him the edge. It would really suck to transfer out for playing time and then end up not playing at the new school either, Nate Montana-style.

He knows the HC better than anyone on the roster -- So he's got that going for him

Not to add that it's an open QB competition with a system he's been fimilar with for the past two years, too.
