On the flip side, this problem can be seen as an opportunity. Switch to the slightly smaller, more athletic guys required to play an attacking, aggressive defense more like Stanford or MSU's (which I presume is the MO of a coach employed by Rex Ryan of all people), get 2 DL's drafted in the 1st round, and use that as fodder on the recruiting trail in a stronger DL class next year.
of course, for any of this to be possible, we need good-to-great DB's. All the best modern defenses seem to have them.
I choose to live in denial about Tuitt leaving until I hear something official.
I think the biggest piece was that he submitted his paperwork for an evaluation.
I asked this yesterday and no one answered, but is there any particular reason why sentiment is trending heavily toward "he gone?" The general sense through December seemed to be 50-50, but since the bowl game more and more people seem to assume he's leaving.
Why? Is it just that he hasn't come out and said otherwise? Was it that second-round draft grade? Some other set of tea leaves? (because I haven't seen a tea leaf worth reading yet).
Elay (Mizzou) declared for the draft right after the game like many others. If Tuitt really wants to leave, why does it take so long? It's been a whole week since that "very, very soon" quote from Kelly. Maybe is he having second thoughts?
I purchased a house in the neighborhood.
I thought it was Kelly that submitted his paperwork. Said he did it for Herc too

I can't help but feel that the longer this drags out, the more likely his odds of returning for his senior year. However, this is where I'm torn. IMO, 2015 (not 2014) will be ND's year to make a serious playoff push. Assuming that's the case, I would almost rather have Tuitt declare for the draft this year so that people like Rochelle can get more PT and be that much more seasoned for that serious push in '15. That said, how do you not take Tuitt back for a final season when it OBVIOUSLY makes the defense better for 2014? After all, we saw in 2012 what a dominant defense could do for a program. Hmmmmmm...
I thought his mom wanted him to grad??

He can always do what Clausen did and come back and get his degree later
Splitting hairs II.
Absolutely. I'm pretty sure she was a major reason in flipping him back from GT during his recruiting period. She was very serious about academics, at least that's how I recall it. I can't imagine it changing that drastically when your child gets so close to accomplishing the goal.
Why did I watch your signature 20 times?
