I do not care too about height, but he is +320lbs as a HS player, more than all of these examples being much shorter and younger. Maybe another example: Martin = 308 lbs. Watt = 321 (same than Nelson). He looks like he is on pace to 340 pounds if he wants.

You gave NFL tackle measurement averages as your mark for what a prototypical OT should look like.

Again, those "modern OT" measurements you used are of guys 4 years older than Nelson. They weren't all that size at Nelson's age either. So to use those numbers as a predictor of college football OT success may be misleading and certainly not accurate.

I do not want to be heavy (well i am, sorry) but Fisher, Lewan, Matthews or Zack Martin (elite College players) came from HS weighing around 280 pounds (some McGlinchey/Bivin-esque). Nelson is already 321 with "only" 6'4-5.. that's my point but i obviously really do not know if he is an OT or OG. Just an observation.

I'm going to throw just one more measurable into the equation......I've seen the height, and his weight as compared to "prototypical" OT 's......one thing to keep in mind......his wingspan is just insane!!!! We're talking damn near a 7' wingspan......throw height out the window, and probably his weight as well, once he gets his hands on you, in all likelihood, you're not going too far......but that's my .02$ worth.....

I was not ridiculing anyone, but I jumped on the arm length measurements because it is basically becoming a cliche that all of our OT prospects, no matter how highly rated, are always labeled as OGs.

To me, it's is basically a truism that anyone who is heavy enough to play guard projects better as a guard than a tackle in our system. Why? Because OGs can be a step slower. So unless the prospect is 6'6", somebody will always say they should be a OG. It's like clockwork.

Scouts do the same think with big DEs, like Tuitt. "He projects better as a OT." All they mean is that because the guy is fast enough to be a DE, he'd be a super-fast OT!

My guess is that he starts off at OG, like many of our OTs do. Not because he does not project as a great OT. But because our system seems to stick the most talented guys on the line as fast as possible, and then move them out later when the spot opens up or they beat the other guy out.

Exactly. So declaring someone a OG is basically saying they don't have the mobility to play OT, at least in our system.

Yep. One of my biggest pet peeves in football is how people equate height, size, etc to essentially looking for that perfect rectangle. There are a million 6'6 315lb guys who can't do shit on the football field for a myriad of reasons.

Now this is something I'm not worried about right now. Warinner took a bottom of the barrel OL and turned it into the best OL in the B1G in just 1 year.

He was the primary reason why we landed Decker in 2012.

The way I remember it, he grew up wanting to play for tOSU. He didn't get that offer immediately, and jumped on board with ND. When Warrnier left for OSU and OSU started recruiting him, it gave him the excuse he needed to flip.

Some years, the difference between 27 and 143 on a prepared list is not that much, particularly if your recruit addresses a need. Granted the Jabrill Peppers and Leonard Fournette's do not come along often, but after the first fifteen, these lists of favorites are generally mix and match. I see no problem with Loy's choices. Again 73 on the list, or 202, you are getting a good football player.
