You guys don't quite understand the mentality of the Lions. One of the most rabid fan bases around. The owners do enough to keep you interested and every year its SOL, same old Lions. Everyone was jacked around here when they started 6-3. Sure fire playoff spot, if Schwartz messes this up he should be fired.....

Well here we are. And guess what? All signs point to Schwartz staying. S O L. To prove to the fan base that they are serious about winning the entire coaching staff should be swept out, with the exception of Cunningham.

The Lions have one of the most rabid fan bases?

I understand that you are probably a great fan, but I'd put them in the bottom half of the league.

I am lost on this Gruden thing to begin with… He won a SB sure, but the guy would be coaching If he was any good… I think we forget how bad some of those teams were...

The Browns lost their team to Modell and the the bellows of NFL hierarchy and still have more rabid fans… The Dog pound is never heard of bc of the capitol Cleveland doesn't produce for the commercializing of america. Sad!

Can anyone imagine the fun the Irish Envy family would have with a Gruden hire. With 243 days until kickoff...fun to think about.

lol are you confused?? There are about 50 professional and collegiate programs that would probably literally kill to have him as their HC.

Where is this info coming from? Other than a few fan base's and espn's critic's? Really? I have never noticed a team in any league actually give him the offer we all talk about… I don't want to spat with you, just would like to see facts! Instead of fan's talking about a great personality and critic's following suit… also ratings with MNF have soared with him in the booth., so.. money talks a great coach who know's out of a booth… not into one!

Yes rabid. I am not even a true fan, local team I follow them. I really don't have a pro favourite team. Used to like Oakland.. But Detroit fans have been fed shit sandwiches for the better part of 50 years and the fans keep coming out.

You want proof of something that happens behind closed doors, that gets denied to save face when it is turned down, and we can't use espn reports. Got it.

The dude won his division in 5 of his 11 years in the NFL. Fielded the only good Raiders team (lost in the AFC championship on the Tuck Rule) in 30 years.

He coached under Holmgren and won with teams under bad management and salary cap restrictions.

He won on a high level with two of the worst franchises in the last quarter century. One of which, he won a Super Bowl with.

What facts am I missing?

lol, It's an interesting thought…(Gruden)!, but unless ESPN is financing his personality also, I doubt we'll ever see him on the side lines.. anywhere! I don't disagree he might be good, but I believe he's nothing more than what he's doing now, or some other high profile talking point job! Keith Jackson was a great personality… John Madden won The last SB as coach of the Raiders… but that's what irony does to a good coach and a so so coach who has the ability to persuade a group of people.

I hear too many reports that Gruden loves what he's doing now. Makes great money gets to talk football, be around teams and not worry about a dumbass GM or owner meddling.

No bud, I don't wanna get under skin and be 'that' guy any more than I already am.. I'm only stating the fact of the matter! I just don't see It. I love kelly now just as much as I loved Weis then… He's a ND man and If a guy hasn't proved himself in a profession that is updated daily? Why on this green earth would we want him to reestablish under us?

Gruden is a tire-kicker. He listens when approached about coaching jobs but always finds a reason not to pull the trigger. This is what some anonymous source told a reporter when asked if Gruden was a candidate for the USC opening.

I used to think you were a troll but I realize you just don't follow arguments well on here. Other than thinking you're crazy if you don't think Gruden is a good coach, I wasn't responding to that.

You say he would be coaching if he were any good.

Someone responds that there are a lot of teams that would love to have him.

You realize that we are talking about how every time a job is opened up his name is floated and there are rumors that he is frequently contacted about coaching. You dismiss this as fan and ESPN hype. You ask for proof.

I respond by pointing out the fools errand you are sending us on. Obviously, if we can't use the "ESPN hype" it's going to be tough to "prove" that teams want him.

You respond with ^. I have no idea what fact you are talking about, why you are talking about your love for Kelly and Weis, or why you think Gruden hasn't proved himself in the NFL, or how you think this is a logical response to my post

Okay, btw I don't think your a bully! Maybe more experienced than I am at debates on blogs.. lol!
anyway, You said as well as I implied ESPN floats these Ideas and we haven't a clue the substance or the origination behind the rumors.. My point exactly! btw who does John work for?

It also fits with, what, about the last eight years of history as witnessed by everyone who pays attention to this stuff. He might be a great hire for someone (I'm not sold on him for us, necessarily), but he shows no signs of wanting to be a head coach. He's certainly had chances.

the Lions and their fanbase simply don't deserve success..trust me there are a lot of Bandwagon fans in the Mitt, you couldn't compare them to Cleveland for instance. I also think the Ford's are too nice to be winners, i bet they keep Schwartz
