Kelly even said that its usually around week 6 when you can get freshman rb's in the game.

I think Nyles will be getting some first team reps right of the bat in fall camp. They'll see how he does and go from there.

I think he'll follow the footsteps of Manti. Gets some reps early in the season and see his playing time increase as the season goes on.

not news but all the crystal balls show ND recently. And every single ND mod on all the sites are extremely confident. Damn what a football player we are getting at the biggest position of need on the team!

I was with you till this part. NG might be the biggest need.

We can thank Jarron Jones for providing a great big "simmer down now," with his NT play late in the season. I think he made it clear that ILB is the biggest need.

I'm warming up to the idea of JJ at NG. Originally, I thought it ludicrous due to his lack of intensity. But he seems to have made huge strides in that department this year. I am concerned with the depth there however. Springmann is coming off a knee injury that required surgery, and Matt Dickerson is also coming off a back injury. Could Marquis Dickerson be a well kept secret by Elston?

Gentlemen...I've missed you. I've had some things going on that have prevented me from signing on and posting every day, but I've done my best to continue reading, especially the recruiting news. It's been quite the ride since my last post on 11/20! I absolutely love the way this class has come together in the past month or so.

So, I know I'm late to the 'Morgan to ND' train, but I had some "news" I wanted to share. I don't really know if this is "news", but I wanted to share anyway. I've posted on Morgan before (see post #144), so this comes from a very reliable source. Without further ado...

Morgan was "basically a lock" for ND before Martin and Diaco left for HC jobs. Their departures did not do a ton of damage, but it was significant enough for him to go from being a "lock" to whatever term is one step below a lock. His father played college football and has always been big on education, which is why we stayed in the picture when it looked like he was leaning towards the SEC. He will make his decision during the Army game and my source really likes ND's chances, but Vandy is lurking so he stopped short of saying Morgan would be Irish. He thinks so, but wouldn't be surprised if Vandy is the choice. It's basically between us and them.

So, I haven't sifted through the thread (it's taken some tangents, huh?) to see if this is news or stuff we already know, but I wanted to share regardless.

To save you the sifting, all sites think he is an ND lock even after the departures of Diaco and Martin.

Welcome back!

Curious if your source said anything about why he feels losing Diaco could be an issue for us but Vandy possibly losing Franklin isn't an issue for them. A lot of rumors flying that he is not long for Vandy.

Thanks!!

Nope. I didn't think to ask that question.

My guess would be the difference is that Diaco is actually gone whereas Franklin is not..

Losing Martin hurt us more than Diaco when it came to Nyles' recruitment.

I still don't think it matters much. All things seem to be trending Notre Dames way. I think getting his Core6 buddy helped us more than losing Martin hurt us.

Kelly took over this recruitment. I don't think losing Diaco or Martin mattered at all.

But I think Nyles will be starting by day 1. If we can pick up on the defense.

Nothing against Anzalone because I really, really wanted him here but is Nyles an upgrade over Anzalone?

Anzalone in our 3-4 scheme had the physical traits to be an ideal fit at ILB for what Diaco wanted to do. He also needed a LOT of work. Many people respect that he was a top 50 player on "upside" but I've heard more than one person say he was crazy overrated for what he actually had on tape as a LB.

There is no doubt that Morgan is a better LB right now than Anzalone was as a senior coming out of HS.

That's how I see it too. AA's film was awful, imo.

really? I was impressed by his play from side line to side line. He was really impressive at Under Armor game too.But to be fair to you I know you were never really that high on him. Respect the honesty bro, just because he wears Blue and Gold doesn't mean hes gonna be a star. I always questioned some of our commits when we took them. But I am also far from a coach and everyone's "highlight" tape is awesome. I have/had the same questions about McKenzie's when there are others who drool over it.
