I'm actually looking forward to American Hustle... And I'm one of those "everything Hollywood does now sucks" guys... That looks like my type of film.

That's about the only Oscar bait movie I'm planning to see in the theater. Maybe "Wolf of Wall Street" just because it's Scorcese.

With the local theater having $5 movies, free popcorn, and recliners I've been going to the theaters a lot recently.

The Hobbit - kinda of ehh, not bad though
Delivery Man - a lot better than I expected
Catching Fire - awesome
Out Of The Furnace - insane, Woody Harrelson was awesome.
Home Front - typical Jason Statham movie, not bad though. Had some good action.

New hobbit movies was just ok, better than the first.

Catching fire was great.

And Thor was great too

The new Hobbit movie was terrible. I just hate to see everything done with special effects when it can still be done practically

Saw the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Sunday. Thought it was about a 7/10. Not as good as the first. Visually stunning but too little action. The third Hobbit movie is set up to be awesome though.

Saw Anchorman 2 today. Really really funny. Good mix of homages to the first movie and new jokes. There were like 4 people in the theater but we were all laughing out loud.

Also saw some older movies this week on TV:

Deer Hunter: 9/10.
Bringing up Baby: 9.5/10 considering how old it is. Really funny.

Man. I have been holding out on Anchorman because I thought the theatres would be packed. I might go see it now.

Deer Hunter is a classic. Great flick.

Saw Thor 2 and Hunger Games 2 recently. I really liked both. Had to do some googling to figure out what the scene during Thor's credits was about. Now that I've read an explanation I still don't know what it's about.

saw Gravity (amazing) and the Hobbit 2 (meh) recently, not a big fan of 3D but it was worth it for Gravity

I absolutely hate 3D and thought gravity was well worth the extra price to see it in 3D, it totally changed my opinion on if 3D is done right what i can bring to a movie experience

I'm with you. I like new movies, but I watch the classic B&W movies from the 30's & 40's more often. Actors couldn't rely on special effects to make the movie.

Maltese Falcon - Must see.
The Day the Earth Stood Still - Much better than the remake.

Newer movies
You don't know Jack - thought it would be good with Pacino, but a major dud.

Deer Hunter is a definite must see.

Deer Hunter is a classic. Great flick.

How long we known each other dude?

Well that doesn't matter. I have a confession. For the first time this last weekend from opening credit to closing, I saw The Big Lebowski! It is an incredible movie, for a whole lot of reasons. I mean you just got to have rules! Still like No Country, Millers Crossing, Blood Simple et all, but these bro's are dangerous.

Wooly and Irish, I cannot watch Deer Hunter. As I remember it was a great movie.

Speaking of pulling old movies out I pulled out Fahrenheit 9/11, after the NY TIMES turned on Bush an Cheney last week. Man, regardless of your political convictions, or your personal feelings about anyone related to the film, that movie was well done!

I also saw the conclusion of Mob City last night. After panning it earlier, I thought that two hour episode was very well done!

I just saw "The Reader" for the first time.

I enjoyed it, but I don't think it was as good as its critical acclaim. It was enjoyable, but not superb. More of a good story than a well done movie.

Watching Mary Poppins on ABC Family right now. Forgot how much I enjoy it. I'm a sucker for old Disney movies

Glad you liked it. I've watched it a billion times and still notice something new every time.

Or maybe I forget those things and they seem new.

Either way... It's a great flick!

I saw anchorman 2 and gave it a zero out of four stars. No laughs in the entire audience either.

I watched "The Color of Money" the other night. I really like it, even though most people tend to cast it aside: not one of Scorcese's seminal works, people felt Newman got a lifetime achievement Oscar rather than really winning it (I disagree), and Tom Cruise. Even though "The Hustler" is a superior film, "The Color of Money" has more appeal to me. Maybe it's more relatable; all those grubby pool halls the characters visit reminds me of all the back room poker games I've sat in. It's lack of flash makes people overlook what a well put together movie it is. It's one of those movies that I can watch over and over and never get bored with. And of course, being a card player, Fast Eddie's quote "Money won is twice as sweet as money earned" is gospel truth to me.

Watched Broken City with Crow, Whalberg and Zeta Jones. I'd give it 3 out of 4 or 3 1/2 out of 5.

Saw anchorman 2 last night. Bunch of good memorable moments, not as many quotable lines as #1. The first 2/3 was solid the last third was over the top and unfunny IMO 7/10 or 8/10

You are a good father. If you don't introduce your children to the glory of "Die Hard" then you are just a bad person who hates America and all that is good and true.

Just saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Terrific film. Not only was the cinematography excellent, but it had a great story and most excellent soundtrack.

A must see.
