Manti Te'o for Heisman

Sounds like a bunch of c0ck and bull - amazing that one would think to look at the number 5.0 tackles by Manti, (one interception), on 51 plays by USC. That is a 12% bad day. Who else plays that way against a prolific defense; with competition from the rest of the defense for picking meat from the bones, like Manti competes against with this kind of brolic defense.

Please note: the poor secondary, once again produced the leading tackler, Mathias Farley, with 9; too bad ND's defensive secondary sucks so bad. (Farley's numbers were because of the game situation. But those Db' CAN play, can't they?)

Older sportswriters, silent majority, intersect with a much more honest and genuine attitude sweeping the country, of which Manti could be the face . . .

Farley is the man. He's got a sweet beard too.

Loved the pictures of Rick Reilley coming to South Bend to polish helmets.

Didn't realize until his show today but DP has a vote in the Heisman. Hopefully, NBC persuades him to give it to Manti.

I hope so too, but I watch his show everyday and he's made it clear several times that he thinks JM will win. I hope that's just his opinion, not his vote. Tony Dungy was on the other day and DP said JM was going to win. Hope he's wrong.

I love the echo chamber that becomes Heisman voting. People conflate (Bogs give me back my brain!) who they think is GOING to win with who they think SHOULD win.

The more I think about it the more disgusting I find it that Manziel is even a top candidate. Freshmen don't win for a reason, their body of work rarely holds up to an ENTIRE season. Manziel is no exception. Any Heisman voter should rewatch the TAMU/Florida and TAMU/LSU games with their current love affair for JM and see if they finish that mess with him as their top pick.

This is nothing but the entire SEC trying to validate Bama losing a game. It obviously had to be a super-human effort to unseat the mighty d-bag Tide!

Murray should be there before Manziel, if he wins this weekend with style it may be too late since tons of votes are already in the mail. Odd, now that I had that thought I think Murry smoking Bama may be the best thing for Manti to split the SEC Heisman vote and give Manti a better chance.

I take that back, Murray isn't getting any votes regardless.

Georgia Bulldogs' Aaron Murray imposes media blackout - ESPN

"Murray, a fourth-year junior, is the nation's top-rated passer and the first quarterback in SEC history with three straight 3,000-yard seasons through the air. But he has struggled at times in Georgia's biggest games."

I would argue he is more deserving IF he is able to go out and paste Bama. Which is really all that Manziel has done to merit any discussion.

Georgia's schedule has been pathetically soft, and Murray was atrocious in UGA's loss to SCar: 11/31 for 109 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT.

Odd, now that I had that thought I think Murry smoking Bama may be the best thing for Manti to split the SEC Heisman vote and give Manti a better chance.

Others have proposed that Klein smoking Texas could similarly split the QB vote, but it could just as likely take votes away from Te'o too.

Exactly. He had crazy numbers no doubt but it just goes to show that Heisman voters aren't doing their due diligence if they ignore the second halves of those two games against LSU and UF. He did little to nothing in the second half of both of those games and it directly resulted in his team losing.

I would counter argue that those voting for Te'o already see past the QBs and their stats and think defensively and are more likely to stick with Te'o whereas a good QB performance from Klein/Murray would move the voters off of JM and more onto the Klein/Murray side.

Not sure if I explained it well enough. I'm trying to cook dinner at the same time.

Wait...just realised this and I'm sorry if this has been brought up before.

But, it's likely that Manti will be a finalist and be in NYC on December 8th. So Manti won't be participating in the banquet? That really stinks.

Te'o getting some face time and love from Dicky V during the UK/ND game on ESPN2. Te'o and many other football players are behind the basket.

That is correct. I am sure they will save him a plate and he can DVR the video.

Just look in various areas of the 'net. Got this one argument with this guy on Twitter. I brought up that JF lost 2 games, he said since it was JF's first collegiate game ever (Florida loss) it should be discounted.

No doubt. I have gotten in many arguments on twitter with random Aggie fans. The difference is we are willing to acknowledge JF is good.

It's a difficult decision when you think about it. Either they vote for a freshmen for the first time ever, or they vote for a true defensive player for the first time ever. The thing is, rarely does a guy like Manti come around. I honestly believe in my heart Manti wins.

I won't be upset if Manziel wins it, but if any person fits the mold of what the Heisman Trophy is, its T'eo.
